How do knife companies like Civivi and Sencut consistently deliver knives that are perfectly centered?

You know, it's interesting. I have purchased many cheaper knives from companies like Civivi and Sencut, and the fit and finish on these knives is very impressive. So are the tolerances. I just got my 6th Civivi knife in today, a Civivi Qubit, and I love it. I've got several Sencuts as well, such as the Fritch and Sasche (sp). Of all these knives, I've never received one that was not perfectly centered. This bothers me because I prefer to buy American made knives, but many of the top knife manufacturers here in the U.S. have consistently had QC problems with high-end production knives being consistently off-center, bad grinds, blade play, etc.

Now, I'm not saying that Civivi and Sencut knives are better than Benchmade and Spyderco... that is not what I'm saying at all, because they're not. However, with the little things like having knives centered, blade grind, and having a really sharp factory edge, these major knife companies could take some notes from the some of these Chinese companies like Civivi.

Oh, and by the way, the Civivi Qubit is a really nice EDC knife, perfectly centered, sharp as a razor, smooth deployment, perfect size, zero blade play whatsover - Excellent knife... A+

How do people not?

You get any machine from a factory. It should be exactly the same as the machine next to it.

(He says writing this from a phone that I assume all the bits are exactly where they are supposed to be.)

The Chinese have many, many, new factories with the very latest in high tech tooling and manufacturing technology. It’s part of the effort to own all manufacturing in the world. It is almost impossible for older companies anywhere else to upgrade to similar equipment in the current economic climate. The playing field is nowhere near level.

This is the answer to OPs question. When I buy a model from We Knife, Vosteed or Reate, I never feel the need to ask for a QC check before shipping.
However I find myself buying USA made knives most of the time because chinese design rarely appeal to me.

Don’t worry, it won’t be long till you’ll be able to buy a perfectly centered spyderco, benchmade crk, Hinderer mcnees, etc made in China. Especially if you keep buying civivis, reate, vosteed etc. Even more so when buying the ones in$ 2-400 price range that are in direct competition with them. It’s all apart of their plan. 😉

People are still buying Chinese knives?
Yes, and more than ever before. WE, Civivi, CJRB, Rough Rider, and Chinese made Kershaws regularly top the charts for sales. A lot more people buy Chinese knives or knives from a gas station, very few in comparison make it to the higher end bracket, or care to make it somewhere like Bladeforums.

Which is unfortunate.

Mitch speaking facts like, well; they're facts.

Good. I would probably get the ronin if it was half the price.
