I was reading the ESEE forum the other day, and saw Mike Perrin comment that Rowen differentially heat-treats ESEE blades. This was news to me, it also made me wonder what their 56-58 HRC rating is for. Think that's the hardness for the edge, and the rest is probably somewhere between 54-56, or that the blade is mostly 56-58 and at the edge might be closer to 58-60 HRC?
I know a lot of people comment on ESEE's edge retention being higher, so I'm kind of wondering if the hardness at the edge is higher than stated, or if the softer portions of the blade are just lower than stated.
