How Do Some People Who Are Registered Users Have Avatar Pictures?

hey guys. im a registered user (I don't Pay) and can't have an avatar. I was looking at some other accounts and I noticed that some registered users have avatars. How do they do this? Thanks Guys.

Some of them have been registered users since the days when everyone could have avatars. Some of them may actually be paying members who haven't changed their group membership in their control panel.

I would suggest you become a paying member and join the fun. It took me 1000 post before I did and I hope I never have to go back.

Someone suggested that if you were a paying member and had a avatar, and then let your membership lapse, the avatar would stay on. Don't know if that is true.

It is not, when I went blue for awhile it was most definitely gone.
