how do u care for your knives u dont carry?

I carry all my knives. No safe queens here.
 
tuff glide/tuff cloth once a month or so... that's about it. you can get a boker knife vault or zt storage bag if you want something to hold folders in together
 
I carry mine, but I do try to wipe all of my blades down once every few months with rem oil and a microfiber cloth to help clean and protect them.

I really only have 2-3 folders, and all get carried. My fixed blades also get used, but only when I'm headed out camping or something like that. So between outings they're sitting in a drawer, with a light coat of oil on them (they're all carbon steel). No problems so far. I do try to clean them before they're oiled, so no sap, etc ends up rusting the blade.
 
I don't care for them nor about them! Sock drawer, and by my computer, and in a big roasting pan on the kitchen step going down into the breakfast room. keepem sharp
 
Wipe them off and oil them; put them in their original box when avaliable.
No leather sheaths, no danging. In a shoebox at a constant climate if possible.
Natural handle materials need special care - think humidity/temperature.
It's important to care for those pieces that don't see regular use.

PS: Many rust protecting products out there; to "oil them" stands for treating them agains rust.
 
If I'm not using them, just oil them and put them in a dry container. If they have come with anti-tarnish tissue/paper or a box I keep them in that. Nothing special.
 
Toss em' in a drawer...

I rotate my folders. My fixed blades just get a thin layer of mineral oil before being put back in their sheaths.

As far as maintenance... all I do on my EDCs is oil the detent ball sometimes, if they're washers then clean as needed, just to keep them smooth. Some need to have screws tightened. It all comes from carrying. If they're not being carried, any high carbon steel I would oil every once in awhile, but other than that, not much.
 
I carry all my knives... but far as storage goes, they're kept in the original box on my closet shelf. Carbon or tool steel blades are kept with a light coat of oil.
