Ok, I've seen it done with Busse blades, where the blade was stripped, sanded and buffed to a mirror shine. After it is stripped, how how do we get it to the mirror shine? What grit is required, to what grit? Does anyone or has anyone done this and want to share so the rest of us can do it for ourself? Any do and don'ts can help. please post and share your how to, thanks

mercmaster used to post some beautiful pics of his work. But then, he worked in a shop with professional equipment.

Who's the fairest of them all?

I think you take it to about 800-2000 grit, then use buffing compound on a buffing wheel you put on a bench grinder. The knife maker sub-forums have a ton of info.

a mirrored finish in four easy steps:

1. buy fine grit sandpaper
2. sand blade
3. check progress
...if done go to 4
...else return to 2
4. stop

The buffing wheel is considered the most dangerous piece in a knifemakers shop. Let's be careful out there.

Mirror = scratches... lot's of dem. :D

Ummm....no.

I find it easiest with an ultra fine polishing belt for my 1 x 30 sander....although to do the pommel on knives like my Skinny Ash and SJTAC....that actually took as long or longer than the blade as it is very fiddly if you don't remove the grips...I ended up using a wedge shaped pencil eraser and wet & dry...then a dremmel with polishing mops and polishing compound...the whole job would be a lot easier if you had the ability to remove the grips IMO...
