Hey group,
Today I outbid LT on EBay (will he ever forgive me!)
It is going to be an ongoing problem for this group and I am looking for ideas that migh prevent us from outbidding each other and prevent on-line wars from breaking out.

Glenn said in an older post

"Now if we could only stop out-bidding each other for these beauties on ebay, we'd all save a few bucks"

Sounds similar to a famous "Cant we just get along" quote from the LA riots.

Anyone got Ideas?

Larry

Not a analogous reference to a quote from Rodney King. First of all as much as I like knives, there will never be a blade forged sharp or strong enough that in order to acquire I would jeopardize, my honor, my word, or cause me to lose a friend. In my particular situation I bid and buy these out of boredom. In fact just about everything I do is just to pass the time and means not one damn thing in the over all spectrum. So bid away and I apologize if I inadvertantly bid on something I should not. It is simply by way of not recognizing or not looking at who may already have the bid. If it happens just let me know and unless it is the Alamo Bowie ( or something similar) I will stay out of the way. If my actions cost you money let me know and I will send it to you out of pocket. Chances are whatever it is I have at least one of them anyway. LT

My intent was not to place blame, since I was the winner, but to find a way of to prevent me/us from stepping on one of this groups bids in general. I was using LT in this example as the one who was injured and not as the one who caused harm. I believe if I am bidding on something, I have set a price I was willing to spend. I just dont want to accidently stomp on someone elses bid, especially someone I can call a friend. I'll continue to look at the bidders of an item in this attempt. I was hoping for ideas of a better way.
Thanks
Larry

Go Pats!

I guess the point I was trying to make is that in my case I am glad to see interest in these items. I only bid them to keep them and there history around for others so in my case it is great to see others who have caught the bug. I guess I am the neighborhood Schrade pusher. Remember our motto JUST SAY YES ( and buy it). Also in my case if someone wants to let me know they have an interest in something. Speaking for myself I sure will stay out of the way. Unless I just have to have it in which case I am sure that we can figure it out after all there will always be another model we both have to have. When I was chasing a lot of high end rare stuff for my book this would come up with the guys who are into that aspect ( automatic knives) it usually worked out of course I recognized most of there handles so it was first in stakes the territory or once in a while we would contact each other and talk it over. Truthfully I can only think of a couple of models that I would really go nuts for ( No I am not telling what they are) I guess I better learn everyones ebay names. Mine is lt632ret. Who is Pat???? Just Kidding. Pat is your pet collie right""". I only follow ARMY football which shows I am into pain. LT

:)

Guess I should ask about the Giants, Jets and Bills.. They are from NY too!
Ill keep an eye out for that bowie for you!
(Is that one of em ? )

You're both a couple of honorable men. Larry sent me an email once wondering if he was bidding against me. He was not, but he might have been once he showed me what the auction was for! And then my friend Larry sent me the knife in question after he won it!

I'm camp9mm on ebay. The name came from the gun that was hanging on the wall over my computer the day I signed up. ( Marlin Camp 9 mm Carbine, now out of production, was a little too close to what some folks call an 'assault weapon'. The serial number was my Ebay password).

If we still had a moderator, we could have a "sticky" thread with our e-bay names listed, for a easy to find reference.

I don't bid all that often, but when I do, I'm "Jen-write" (my wife, Jenni, is a writer :) , and it's really her account).

My ebay name is Glennbad...

Not a lot of mystery there. My comment was kind of a half-hearted joke, but was sincere as well. I really try not to snipe auctions, so when I put my bids in, they are usually my max bid, and as high as I care to go. I'd much rather that these knives go to one of you, than someone I don't know at all.

I suppose that all's fair in love and war, and ebay auctions, but I will try to be more aware of who I am bidding against.

Oh yeah...The Patriots are Houston bound!!!!:D
