How Do You All Think The Koenig And Shiro Knives Compare?

I was wondering which you like best and why? I just bought my first Shiro and can't wait to see how it feels in the hand and opens.

I’d say the levels of quality are pretty comparable, but I’d give the edge to Koenig for sure.

Kind of like the look of some of the Shiro's but never really felt the price was justified. Just don't like the looks of the koenigs.

2 of the finest production knives on the market. They are so similar in outstanding quality that I could not pick a clear winner. I decided to own both - an Arius and a Shiro 95. They are different enough to own both. The Arius is an ergonomic, hand filling, curvy design with a stout blade while the Shiro is the more sleek, sexy and pocket friendly EDC.

Both have that very satisfying "thwack" on opening and silky smooth hydraulic drop shot action on closing.

Neither disappoints.

I think both knives are executed well...Shiro for the win tho. All the Arius’s I’ve held felt off balance. Weight distribution was off for me. Both are excellent knives, but I own two Shiro’s and no Arius’s.
Get one of each and come to your conclusion and let us all know! :D Happy hunting!

Shiro! The Arius looks goofy and is chunky, while the 110KS I just received is nearly the epitome of everything I love in a folder.

well....it's a little unfair throwing the 110KS into the mix. It's 3x's the price of the Koenig and basically a custom collaboration.

Congrats BTW. It looks like an outstanding folder. Hope I win the last lottery

You're talking about two of the best production knife companies out there. In my opinion it is going to boil down to which knife feels better in your hand more than any meaningful difference in the quality of the individual knives. One thing to consider is that if you were to ever need warranty work or needed to interact with customer service, assuming you are located in the US, is that these things may be easier with Keonig since they are US based.

That's fair. The price difference exists even between the most basic Shiro and an Arius though (at least when I bought mine at $450 or so).
Good luck on the final 110KS drawing.

I own both, and shiro is better, both have great fit and finish, but the Koenig feels even bigger than my shiro thats .25” inch bigger, my vote goes to Shiro

How is Shiro's warranty?

this has been a subject of much debate.

As I understand it, they warrantee all their knives against defects in workmanship - with or without a COA. They will also repair your knife (for a fee) if it is not a warrantee issue.

If you do have a COA from their only authorized US dealer, you send the knife to the dealer and they will send to Russia for you. If you do not have a COA from the dealer, you need to send it to Russia yourself.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

I think the Shiro takes the cake...opinion only.
...and I'd pick the Spyderco Slysz Bowie over the Arius...
I've had three Bowies and have kept the last one...it's a fine knife.

Overbuilt blade vs a versatile blade. Pry bar vs a slicer.

I don’t own a Koenig. I do own two Shiros. But all indications are that both are on a par in quality. My opinion is the choice will be a design issue and not a quality one.

I personally couldn’t imagine carrying a knife as chunky as an Arius. My HatiOn Lite disappears in my pocket. To be fair though, I don’t EDC my Shiro F3 either. Too big for my daily carry usage.
