  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

How do you apply final finishes?

I usually use trimmed down sheep skin or a rag. A lot of finishes don't do well with brushes and can streak pretty badly. The sheep skin is for areas with a lot of tooling but the rag works better on smooth leather. Done quickly with both.

I use an old T shirt stretched tight over a couple of fingers. Large projects like rifle scabbards ya still get streaks. I use Oakwood, a conditioner on large projects as a finish. Rub it on, wipe off excess and then buff in 15- 20 minutes Leaves a nice finish.

That's interesting, Dave. Never heard of Oakwood Conditioner..........of course I'm not a "saddle-sitter" so not up to speed on all that stuff. ;)
