How do you carry at shows?

What recommendations can you offer about carrying custom folders at shows? I guess an obvious answer is in an external case, but that leaves an open opportunity for theft or loss.

I also saw a guy at blade last year with some custom pocketed vest on.....he was openly displaying about 12 large tactical knives...probably not a good idea either!

For that matter, what are your recommendations for everyday carry of fine customs that don't belong in your pocket with your car keys. Every knife I have purchased has come with a zipper case that is really too large for carry.

Thanks!

Do you mean stuff you've brought to trade/sell/show off and stuff you've bought at the show?

Most people I know carry some sort of shoulder bag to organize their show materials.

As to how to carry high-end knives, I'd suggest a nice leather sheath on the belt. There are a lot of good leathersmiths around. You could also have a dedicated pocket for your customs.

I have a 12 slot case that keeps everything organized and safe.
Unfortunately at shows most theft occurs right at the tables.

For edc a William Henry slipcase is hard to beat.

Hiya, Chuck. What are you doing up at 2:53 AM--as if I don't know.:D
Hope all is well.

I bring a shoulder back that locks and/or one of those vests with many pockets.
I also bring a few empty knife cases or buy them there--most makers will provide a case, but there are a few vendors that go the plastic bag/newspaper route.

If you've got something nice that you like to carry, get a leather sheath made. I've got a very nice Bailey Bradshaw Midlock with a Kenny Rowe sheath. Makes for an excellent EDC knife.

I am going to take my bright green bag with me to carry my water, and whatever knives I buy. And I am planning on getting either more Bill's Custom Cases at Blade. I am also hoping that the knives (customs) I buy, will have a zippered case of some sort. I am planning on picking up a Patrick Nihiser at Blade!!

Thanks....all good suggestions.

Spyderjon, I am really referring to stuff that I need to bring to the show to show to the makers....minor issues I want them to look at. But, I like the way you think...let's also go with stuff I buy at the show.

Chuck, the William Henry case is a great idea...I have seen those before and liked them. I will have to visit their booth. P.S. Thanks again for the VIP pass!
