How do you carry your Benchmade Rescue Hook?

I recently purchased a BM5 rescue hook from Benchmade. I got the model with the hard sheath, which is roughly rectangular with one side open to hold the blade of the hook, and three others that are closed but have slots for what looks like some sort of small webbing. Has anyone found a way to attach a belt loop to this sheath? I have a small strap with a buckle on the end that I can thread through the slots in the sheath, but I still end up with a rather thick buckle somewhere on the sheath. I have also thought of cutting the sheath off and sewing the webbing loop closed, but thats more permanent than I want to get before consulting the experts here at the forums.

Appreciate any thoughts, ideas, recommendations or crazy ideas.

Thanks.

You might wanna contact a mod about moving this to the Blade Discussion Forum, it could probably go both ways, both knife discussion, and gear discussion. The mod of this particular forum might be able to give a comment as well.

I am not sure what you mean. I carry mine on my belt with the nylon case. I also have a pair of rolled up gloves in the case as well.

I got the impression that the hard case was more to carry it around your neck but that was just a guess. Don't know for sure, that is why I bought it with the nylon case.

Yeah, let's try this in Blade Discussion.

I carry it attached to my multi-tool sheath flap or fixed blade sheath loop (between handle and loop) when I'm outdoors or hunting. :D

Thanks for moving the thread Cougar,

What I mean is that the hard case does not come with any sort of loop to secure it to a belt or anything else. As seen in the picture below, there are slots in the sheath which you can run thin webbing through to form a loop. I was just wondering if anyone had found any small nylon or rubber straps that would go through the slots and form a loop without a large buckle. Any other carry ideas would be good to hear as well.

Are you carrying it in some sort of uniform or on a daily basis on a duty belt? Or is it more of a climbing/diving/expedition type of use? If the latter, simply decide where you want it and lash it there with paracord or other small cordage. If you are carrying it on some sort of duty belt you can usually find space behind another carrier. Eg. Behind your magazine carriers between the belt, behind your cuff case, in your trauma plate pocket, etc. Just my $.02 but I would try to pick a location available to either hand.

I carry two , one in my truck , hanging from the gearshift , and one in a belt pouch .

Benchmade.com offers several options

Then there are nylon cable ties, available at most DIY stores, that you can fashion into sleek and simple (and cheap!) belt loops. Though you'll have to carry the Rescue Hook horizontally on your belt.

I don't use the sheath that came with my Model 5. I just made a blade cover out of duct tape (what else?) and slip the little jewel in the watch pocket of my jeans. It's not a "quick draw" set up, but then my Rescue Hook is used primarily for liberating soda bottles.

I'll be using it mostly for expedition use. The cutting edge is a little small for climbing as the larger diameter climbing ropes would not fit in it.

I always carry a leatherman charge and surefire E2E on my belt in holsters, but the hook does not seem to fit well anywhere near them. I'm going to try that small strap I have and see if it will work ok on a belt.

You have to take what I say with a grain of salt because although I've played with them often, I don't currently own any ResQ hooks. I've always thought that having one lashed high on a pack shoulder strap or LBE suspenders would be a convenient set-up.
