How do you carry your big folders?

So far I just carry mine in one of my front pockets. The downside to that is when I wear jeans I only have two pockets so one of them carries everything else and one is reserved just for my knife since I don't want it to get scratched. My most carried knives are large Coke bottles, large toothpick, and folding hunters.

I think weight is more of a determining factor than size in this. I typically carry a large but lightweight folder in my right front pocket with my keys and change. Easy access is the key, and being right handed, that’s pretty much where it has to go. Anything too heavy would have to go in a sheath on my belt.

I don’t worry about the dings and scratches. I view them as I view scars and wrinkles on humans - they add character without detracting from the bearer’s natural beauty. That’s what I keep telling myself, anyway. With knives at least it may be true...

Depends on what youre calling big? Big to me would be something I'd belt carry. If we're talking folders around 4" they go in their own front pocket, sometimes with my front pocket wallet assuming I'm not carrying it in my back pocket.

I like character, but I don't want unnecessary "character" on them. I'm fine with character on my knives from use but keys, change, concrete or gravel isn't use imo its neglect. Same goes for my phone as far as that goes. I have hard users fixed and folding, my nicer blades, specifically traditionals ain't it.
What other people do with theirs is there business.
I don't mind a belt sheath folding knife, but don't currently own any. Wouldn't object though.
A knife slip might remedy some of my worry, but I have few of those as well.
This is what works for me.

I don’t carry large folders. A Case large stockman is the largest I’d ever carry. If it’s bigger than 3 3/4”, it should be a fixed blade in a sheath or a kitchen knife in a block, in my opinion. All my folders just go in my front right pocket.

P.S. I don’t mind honest scuffs, scratches and wear either. No safe queens here.

I generally carry anything up to 4¼" in my RFP, with an alox Cadet in the LFP with keys. If I carry a larger knife (rare, except during hunting season), then it goes in a slip and in my watch pocket. My jeans and work pants have 4½-5 inch deep watch pockets, and the leather slip keeps them upright and snug. Here's a couple of my biguns.

I carry my knives big and small in my front pocket. I sew a partition in the pocket so the knife is held vertically.
This also separates it from everything else in that pocket and prevents it from getting all scratched up.
I use a safety pin to do this in my left front pocket - works great!:cool:

I almost always wear carpenter pants, and if I have a folder that's 4" or more, it goes in the long tool pocket on the right leg of my jeans.

The only folders I have that I would call large (by mass) are Buck 110 and 112s. Those get carried in a belt sheath, but just because it makes the weight less noticeable. I don’t worry about scratches on my user knives.

I don't carry large folders that often, but if I do, it's usually in a belt sheath, vertical on the right hip or horizontal, left front. Seems to work better for a weighty folder
