How do you carry your ESEE 3 knife?

I have an ESEE 3 that I would would like to edc a bit and was wondering how you guys carry yours around. I have the molle back scabbard and until now, it is mounted on my pack while hiking or just sits on my "SHTF" vest waiting for action...lol. problem is, the belt clip that is included seems to ride too high on my belt and really tight to my side. Ideas and pics on carry would be great. Thanks!

I found the same with my 3. For the price grab a Tek-Loc for a horizontal carry option. The extra thickness of the Tek-Loc pushes the knife and sheath away from the body allow for easier accessibility and comfort.
Plus it's a quick enough switch for verticle if need be.

What position on the belt do you carry horizontally that it doesn't stick out? I'm not crazy about trying to resheath a razor sharp knife in the SOB position.

ETA... what size tek lok will fit? Do I need the long screw version and will that fit an Izula sheath too? Thanks!

Horizontal carry?
I ran this rig through an ESEE survival class. I chose horizontal carry so that a sheath wouldn't get tugged or tangled in thicker growth in the woods.
Worked fine. The ESEE 3 would stick out to the side even less than this BK-16.
I'm pretty sure that you want the large Tek-Lok to line up with the ESEE sheath. I can check later.

Thanks on the large size info. I saw on the auction site that they have kits with longer screws for knife sheaths. Are the loger ones needed? I'm going to grab one up. Prob do the Izula for edc rotation and then belt carry the 3 while hiking'

I use a simple kydex fold over sheath with a static cord attached , inside the waistband offside. I'm right handed. Crossdraw right hand, tip down edge out draw left hand.

In the second photo what is the attachment ?

I carry my ESEE3 scout style small of the back on a large tec loc. I have carried it numerous times and no one noticed (or cared). As said above the tec loc keeps the knife and sheath out and slightly away from your body for easy removal and resheathing.

A fire steel I handled with a small section of deer antler. Epoxied in with JB Weld. Worked great.

WillieD, I was fairly sure about the large TekLok, but I got preoccupied with Saturday chores and never checked. Thanks to thebrain for confirming. Length of the (I'm assuming Chicago) screws depends on thickness of the sheath. I don't have a ready answer for you there. Maybe someone else can chime in. Or you could ask over on ESEE's forum.

I use paracord.

It's a "tighter fit" against your body, but it disappears under even a t-shirt in that case. It is positioned between my belt and my pants. If you do the paracord a little bit loose for your belt width, it will rotate side to side as you sit down so you don't get a sheath in your hip or a handle in your gut.

It's vertical carry, sort of. Cheap. I've got several tec-locks just sitting around from knife buys. The paracord works better IMHO unless concealment isn't an issue.

I sold my ESEE 3 but when I had it I just used the Molle back like a belt sheath if I wanted to carry it on my person.
I do have a Tek-Loc mounted on my IZULZ sheath for horizontal carry. Being right handed I wear it just left of my belt buckle for cross draw. It is out of the way and easily accessible while seated.

I did try using the molle on the belt. Doable for sure, just seems pretty loose and definitely not concealed enough for edc. I probably would carry the Izula more for edc anyway. Does that use the large tek lock also? I tried the paracord thing and just too much of a pain taking on and off and a bit sloppy. Ususally I just pocket carry the Izula. I am just feeling bad about letting the Esee 3 sit so much. Its such a great knife!

I do use the large Tec-Loc for the IZULA. I also neck carry it a lot. Have you ever tried neck carry with your 3?
I think the Tec-Loc would work great for the 3 and horizontal carry. I have been able to horizontal carry my Laser Strike SOB with the Tec-Loc. It is just a pain to get it back in the sheath.

With my 4 (my brother has the 3), I flipped the clip upside down to how it would be for vertical carry, and have the handle facing my pocket. Blade edge facing towards my front.
