How do you carry your small fixed blade for EDC?

Hello all. Been awhile since I have been on here, but am back and have some questions. I am thinking of going with a small fixed blade for EDC use. I am not into the neck knife thing, so what are my options? I have been looking at the Tops Ferret or Prairie Fox. The kydex sheath has a clip on the bottom to hook onto something (belt loop ETC). Just wondered how you guys are carrying the small fixed blades. Also would like opinions on the 2 knives I mentioned earlier and some other suggestions on small fixed blades for general use that won't break the bank. Thanks, Terry

For a low cost beater that you can throw away look at the Gerber profile with a 4inch blade. It's sold at Wallyworld for around 20 bucks. The knife is imho an ugly sumbitch but it feels freat in the hand. The big downside on this knife for me was the extra crappy sheath that comes with it but what do you expect for 20 bills.
As for carry I use a gun belt with the built in holster ( really just an extra piece of cowhide sewed into the inside of the belt )which is perfect for hiding small fixed blades and folders while still being comfy.

I carry my Benchmade Activator on my belt and my Becker Necker on my neck. I much prefer the belt carry.

If my pants are of the appropriate design, I carry my Becker Necker in my right front pocket. I've had no problems with obtusiveness, comfort, or loss this way. Otherwise, I carry a clipped knife and put the Becker Necker in my laptop carrying case, which is never far from my reach.

I've been toying with idea of loosely attaching the Necker sheath to my belt via a length of paracord attached to a small carabiner clip. This wouldn't draw much attention, but it would ensure that if the knife fell out of my pocket, I would know about it in a hurry.

Carry mode depends on your dress code. And the quality/ price range you are wanting depends on what you use your blade for. I use knives on a daily basis. In the backyard, the clubhouse or at the shop I strap on a few different blades on different days and for requirments needed. These will be on a Dozier made vertical kydex sheath. Most of them holding a Dozier made blade! On leisure and commuting/ travelling times, I carry a Dozier made on their horizontal kydex. I have found their blades and sheath systems to be reasonably priced for a no frills high quality using knife.

I'd get a Becker Necker if only it were done in a stainless steel instead of a carbon steel. I just want the extra corrosion resistance.

A small fixed blade that's pretty good and "won't break the bank" is certainly the Timberline Mini Pit Bull. It's like $35 or so, I think. I bought myself two, and then I ground the base of the blade a bit to remove the slight recurve that it had. (I hate recurve.)

Also, you might consider the Benchmade Nimravus Cub. It's a nice knife. The sheath it came with (not sure if they've changed it) is not the best, but there are people who make replacements for it, and I plan to get one from On-Scene Tactical

To add to what was said above, consider Al Polkowskis' knives, I have a Polecat model, it is the only fixedblade that I have in my EDC rotation. I really like the sheath, it allows for a variety of carry options. A he offers great hand made knives that work great as ECDs for little money. Just my two cents, thanks. -john

I carry a Buck clipped to my wallet.Body out/clip in. Left front pocket.

If someone "asks" for my wallet it comes out blade opened and they'll recieve a bit more than they bargained for.
The right front pocket contains a .44 Charter Bulldog ;)

A hand stabbed by a ' wallet", and a .44 sp to the forehead, is a terrible way to finish the day.

IWB at 5 o'clock.(fixed blade)
Works well for me.

Cold steel superedge, it's key ring is anchored to a key keeper on my belt made by spyderco, the knife lives suspended in my pants pocket, if I put my hand into my right pants pocket it is there and can be yanked out in a second, blade exposed ready to go. It is not recognized as a knife by sight.

My Blackjack Small came with a cool little rear pocket sheath, that can also be worn on a belt. I've never tried it on a belt, but it works great in the back pocket of a pair of jeans.

I carry my custom Anso Hybrid in a horizontal belt sheath.

IWB at five o'clock, discreet open carry and its fast to access too.I can legally carry a fixed blade I just can't conceal it.

I carry a Dozier Arkansas Toothpick on the right side of my belt. I am carrying a TOPS Bush Ranger with the rotating clip on the left side of my belt. I love that rotating clip! Around my neck I carry a Dozier Straight Personal.

Dozier Agent with a IWB sheath.

Barry Dawson Fixed Blade that can either be worn IWB or clipped in my front pocket.

Graham Knives Spear Point that is usually worn clipped in my front pocket.

The only fixed blades that I normally EDC are a Benchmade 210 or a Hideaway knife. I have a kydex sheath for both and alternate between useing them as a knick knife and just carrying them in my pocket. Sometimes on weekends I will put the 210 on my belt, but I work in an office durring the week and can't get away with that. Well, I might be able to, but have never tried, its doubtful at best.

I have a Prairie Fox, and I wouldn't rely on the carabinier on the sheath. I've had to walk over 2 miles of swithbacks one time to find my Gerber Clip Lock that had been clipped to my belt. :grumpy:

I just put the PF in my front pocket.

I often carry a Dozier Straight Personal in it's horizontal crossdraw sheath on my belt. It's pretty discreet, now that the eye-catching yellow micarta scales have "matured" to a dark butterscotch color. It can also easily be slipped into a pocket and it's nearly unnoticeable.

I have a couple small customs and I carry them in-pocket or on my lanyard with my keys.
