I use a regular US Army canteen with canteen cup and stove sleeve. Most of the time this is in the pack. I also carry several of the collapsable "playtus" or "sweetwater" bags with the screw-on caps, both 1 and 2 liter size. It all depends on where I'm going and how much water I will ahve to pack in.

For emergency use I have a 5 liter "jerrycan" bag rolled up and attached to my water filter. This is a heavy gauge plastic bag intended to transport gasoline. I only use them for water. Mac

I've become a Camelbak convert as well - Camelbak Transformer, or

Camelback Omega 102oz in Becker Patrol Pack.

For owners of camel back type hydration systems:

How long do they last, and how hard are they to clean?

I don't have one, but am thinking of getting one. What is a good brand & model in the 50 fl oz range?

I've never used a full 102oz in one day, but that is obviously dependent on level of exertion, weather, etc.

I clean it right after using it, and haven't found it to be too difficult. Just swish water in and out of it several times under a running faucet and let clean water run through the hose while pinching the 'valve'.

I also like to clean it right away. I got the drying hanger and it works well in making sure the whole bladder dries out. The mouthpiece can get stinky after awhile, so I wash it with dishwashing detergent. Camelbak Omegas are awesome, even easier to clean than the Storm. Beezaur, the Camelbak UnBottle might be your ticket, but it's 70 oz. and I dunno if it comes in 50 oz.

a couple of 1 litre SIGG drinks bottles have done me fine for yrs. I take one every day to work and i take both when im out and about.
