Just bought a used Emerson and would like to clean it. Just looking for advice, do you take them apart, what do you use to clean, lube etc.

Thanks

slipjoint kinda guy and i use WD-40 and 000 steel wool, the steel wool only if its rusty or particularly funky... then i go over the knife with various qtips, folded pieces of cardboard and pipe cleaners, a thin layer of mineral oil on the tangs and the blades then in the pocket:D
WD-40 does a pretty good job of blowing out all kinds of crud, you could also try hot soapy water and dry it completely
you'll get alot of responses on this question...
good luck

I decided to take it apart and it was dirty. And this was after I tried cleaning it in one piece. So broke it down, wiped it up, polished and lubed.
