How do you conceal carry? (recommend me a holster)

I have my CCW permit and carry a taurus titanium hammerless revolver in a pocket holster. I carry a lot of stuff in my pockets and could really use the extra pocket space. I also do not carry a speed loader so I only have 5 rounds but figure its better than none.

I am thinking I want to carry inside waist band. What is a good holster for this application?

I usually am wearing a t-shirt and cargo shorts or jeans so if there is another way to carry I am open but don't want to leave much of a print.

I would also like to maybe upgrade to a Kahr at some point. Do any of the IWB sheats also have room for a spare mag?

Just looking for some options and what a good IWB holster is. I don't care if its leather or nylon as the function is more important to me than the materials.

Thanks for any suggestions!

I carry my Kahr Elite 98 in a Blade-Tech. IWB holster. I have been extremely happy with Blade-Tech. holsters over the years. I also carry my S&W 342 PD in a Blade-Tech. holster.

CompTac CTAC is the only way to go! kydex mated to leather IWB, adjustable for cant and retention strength, different kinds of belt clips available. Not much of any shifting on the belt. I've carried a 1911 model with it for quite a while and it hides it under a t -shirt just fine (and I'm not a huge guy).

Last time I was at the gunshop I had that setup, with a t shirt. I'm less intense about making sure my shirt doesn't ride up to expose my gun because I know everyone, and when I bent down to pick up a rifle, a clerk mentioned he'd never have believed I had a gov't model on unless he'd seen it with his own eyes!

+1 for a comp-tac.

I've got the in the waste band kydex clip. Best holster I've had in the past 20 years.

One advantage of a 2" snubby is that it'll tuck into places where other guns would not.

With IWB's and Shoulder rigs is that you can hide a bigger/better gun than a 5 shot snubby.

If you're going to carry that much holster, you can carry that much more gun.

That said, the best IWB rig is the KyTac BraveHeart. It recently received the highest rating, including comfort, of all IWB's tested in a recent "Guntests" article about the Springfield XD.

For my M85UL snubby, I bought a Hume IWB leather holster. It is very nice and secure. I had an Uncle Mikes, soft fabric one, that I didn't have confidence in. It wasn't very secure. The Andrews Leather holster above are great. I have an IWB for my Kimber Compact. I talked to the guy a few times at gunshows. He takes ride in his work and it really shows. I would have bought from him rather than the Hume, but he didn't make that show. The Hume website isn't showing a holster for an M85 at this time.

As for extra rounds, I have a speed loader bu prefer the Bianchi Speedstrips as they lay flat and are easy to carry.

For inside the waistband carry I have two recommendations:
A Minotaur Holster (MTAC) which is sold through Comp-Tac. http://www.comp-tac.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=35

Or essentially the same thing but a little less refined version (I believe they introduced the design first) is the SuperTuck by http://www.crossbreedholsters.com/.

Crossbreed had a $10 dollar coupon at one point (they still might) so if you want to get the most bang for your buck I would go with them. They also have a lifetime warranty if the holster ever fails during normal use and outstanding customer service.

I dislike IWB holsters, never found them comfortable. Dad does carry in them however and he is very partial to Milt Sparks IWBs. He has used the Sparks Summer Special for years carrying daily.

These guys have specially designed clothing as well as a large variety of holsters & concealment options.I bought the leather jacket last year & it carries a my 4" barreled S&W 686 so comfortably,I hardly know it's there.

Thanks for all the replies! I will go back through and research all the links and name brands suggested.

Since I didn't get much feed back about spare magazines how are yall carrying them or are you just carrying whats in the gun?

Also, it looks like most of the pictures I have seen are carrying IWB at about 3 o'clock. Is this the standard location? It seems like it would dig into my hip bone pretty bad. I guess I assumed since I carry my pocket knife IWB between 12 and 1 that is the same spot I would carry CCW. But maybe I have been watching too many gang banger movies? I am 6'2" and 190 lbs with not much body fat if that matters at all.

Thanks!

Ryan

Spare mag is on the off-side, riding in the compact mag pouch by KyTac (www.kytac.com) It's not unnecessarily high like most others.

Proper location for the IWB rig for most people is at the 4 o'clock position, just behind the hip bone. Not at 3 o'clock and not 5.

That said, find what works best for you.

Since you didn't specify the model I don't know if they make one for it or not, but I'm partial to the Barami Hip Grip for small revolvers. I have them on my S&W442 and I think they're a great way to carry it.

Uncle Mikes Codura in pants, in the small of my back holster, outta sight, comfortable, holds my Taurus PT111 securely.

Kydex hip holster for me. I've carried a Glock 20 in a Bianchi PDQ that was very nice as well. If fact, that PDQ holster was the best I ever used with a seat belt on in a car. No kidding, I could draw pretty fast belted in. Standing and unencumbered it was extremely fast.

After the 4 day course at FrontSite, I'm done with thumb breaks.

+1 on the Crossbreed holster. I've been carrying in a Predator kydex IWB for years, and thought it was good, but upon a friend's recommendation, I picked up the Supertuck in horsehide. I am amazed at the difference! So much more comfortable and concealable than what I'm used to. I was really torn between the Comp-tac and Crossbreed, but I am very satisfied with Crossbreed's product and customer service. A word of warning, though, if you get a Supertuck: it creaks. A lot. I solved the problem, though, by putting a little duct tape (sticky-back felt, or something similar would work too) between the kydex clip and the leather. No more creak.

My comp tac is the pro undercover. It is a minimalist design and comes off and on more easily than a uncle mike's soft iwb holster whilst providing the security of comfortable kydex.

For a small, light J-frame look at appendix carry.

Maybe a Comp-Tac 2 O'Clock holster or a Gabe Suarez Ehud holster.

IWB is not carried at the 3 o'clock position. It is normally behind the hip bone or in front of it. 3 o'clock is usually reserved for open carry.

Carry at least one complete reload for the pistol. After discharging shots, before walking away from the scene, one should quickly reload. One should be prepared for the next incident.

+1 for Blade Tech!

Low profile/bulk, VERY secure, stays open when you draw and the pistol "clicks" in when seated. No break in, and they don't mind sweat, water, mud etc. Doesn't matter which version you choose...belt, IWB or paddle.
