How do you darken your Titanium?

I've done a ton of searches and i keep coming up with the Oxiclean treatment for darkening Ti.
It's ok if you want to get your items a darker shade of grey but Is there anything else that can be used to really make the Ti near black?

First I'll etch the ti to get an even coloration
Then neutralize the etching solution by placing the item in a distilled water bath.
Degrease the objects
Rinse them (all while wearing rubber gloves, blue nitrile)
By now the kettle is boiling, I put a full scoop of Oxiclean into an empty flat plastic container (kinda tupperware ish)
Pour the near boiling water in slowly so as to dissolve the Oxiclean evenly, stir it around a bit (all of this takes around 10 seconds)
Lay the Ti pieces flat and face up and let them sit for 30-45 min.

They come out darker but not nearly as dark as I'd like.... Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for the help

The only way that I know to get the color black is to coat it. DLC, Cerakote, etc.

Others will know more about this than I and hopefully they'll chime in, but if you put a torch to Ti it goes through a series of color changes, the latter ones being darker blues and purples. Not sure if you keep going if you get black, but just a thought.

Hey there Navitimer, Thanks for responding..... I wish it would go black! it goes from straw to gold to bronze, then you get the purples and then the blues but as you get slightly past the darkest blue it then starts to lighten up! After that you still get a lighter blue but after that it goes almost white! I've been playing around anodizing with electricity and also with a torch. Those seem to be the color progressions... Hopefully someone will chime in with a tidbit soon ;)
