How do you display your collection?

I only have around 25 folders, and I need a new way of displaying them. Having them laying out on my desk is not really practical anymore. I do use most of them so I want them to be easy to get to. What do you guys use to display/store your EDCs? It has to look cool, not take up a lot of room, and easy to access.
Any ideas?

I put my knives in this 3 Drawer Cart:

I put rectangles of Jeans material in the drawers so the knives are less likely to slide around.
I used to have 50+ knives in that thing lol.
I use the bottom drawer for my Knife Boxes and sheaths and pouches.

Cigar boxes, go to you local smoke shop they have tons of them that can be had for a dollar. I pick through and find the biggest, sturdy ones.

A pelican case. If there was an earthquake (very likely where I'm at) I can grab it and go or worse case scenario I can't grab it in time and the house collapses I'll know my knives are still safe. :D

Like that idea^^

I was also thinking of magnetic knife bars mounted on the wall. Although some steels actually don't attract very will to a magnet, and if the knife gets magnetized that might be annoying when sharpening. The filings wont fall off the knife, and they'll have to be wiped away with a rag. I assume.

Moxy, I have them up on the wall with a magnet, and it's not that bad. I haven't noticed any shavings on my knife, but it's magnetic and can pick up a paper clip. I'm thinking of going with a lexan case, covering the back with rare earth magnets, and putting a layer of felt over the magnets to protect the knife blades. And on the plus side, half an inch of lexan is bulletproof. For a .22 round at least. :p

I have mine scattered all about in my semi man-cave. I need to come up with something creative for a display.

hmm. Yeah Neodymium would be the way to go for some knives. I have recently bought one of these:

I've been experimenting with different arrangements and I covered it with a old micro fiber cloth I used on my guitars. And for most knives it attracts well enough. But some of my high carbon steel titanium folders barely hold themselves up. So for those you'd need Neodymium. But then some knives might attract too strongly. My kershaw leek (stainless handle) attracts very well to that harborfreight bar. That thing just has ceramic barmagnets laid out on a piece of steel. I'm a magnet freak and have a collection of VERY powerful magnets. They're stupid strong. I use them to hold up TV remotes and all my flashlights. They're also expensive.

I had a drawer liner added to a drawer in my closest. It has some slots that I use for my EDC knives and some compartments I use for my watches among other things. Not for displaying the knives however, just basic storage but works well for me.

Funny you should ask....

Just hit the GWilly today, found this (I assume it's for displaying shot-glasses) for $5.

Just flipped it upside down so the divots for the glasses don't show, and voila!

It's sitting just fine, I may hang it....

Interesting, because I've been looking for something too, as I acquire more knives. As you mention "display / store", they are two different things. Some you want to lock away, or to be out of sight, and others you want to look at or be able to grab in an instant.

So 2 ideas I stumbled onto just yesterday as I poked around town in the local antique shop. There were 4 antique silverware cases, for $10 each. They have slots in bottom, and little straps on the lid, and seemed well suited for knife storage. A decent one on auction sites seem to run $30 to 50. Most of them get scratched up on the outside, but can be refinished. He had a pretty nice one that I'm gonna go back and snag up for ten dollars. Cigar humidors work well too. I got a wooden one a while back and made a gun box.

So I left the antique shop and went next door to the mom & pop hardware / plumbing store, to get their calendar I use every year. Luckily, my ability to BS with anyone about anything sometimes pays off. I was eyeballing the Case knives and moreso the old wooden display case, and telling the part time cashier how the old cases are hard to find. Turns out she used to own a jewelry store and has some locking glass topped metal framed display cases that she used for shows and travel. She said she paid $100 each, and is selling for $40 each. Grey felt inside. I may try to get both for a reduced rate. She had a pretty nice store, and I expect they are nice. I'm dying to see them, but have to wait till she brings one to work next week. If they're nice, I'll find out where she got them, and post pics. Sounds like it may work well on an end table to display a few, but still be under lock and key.

What is this "display" you speak of? I ordered a Spyderpac to organize my folders, but it was on the same ticket as my deposit for a certain sprint run P2, 11 months ago. When asked, I said, "Just ship it with the knives when they come in." That may not have been the wisest decision.

Until the magic day comes I have my folders in several places around the house. My most used ones live atop the dresser.

I use an antique desk, with towels in each drawer. Top drawer is slip joints and blades under 3". Middle drawer is fixed blades and larger folders. Bottom drawer is for slips, sheaths, sharpeners, all all the other assorted knife tools and products I own.

After years and years of trial and error, I finally came up with a cheap practical way to display my collection.

I only display one at a time. The rest are
kept in a secret location.

With a little one running around, I keep everything under lock and key.

Fixed blades, stuff I buy to collect and long guns go in the big safe

If not in the EDC rotation I keep mine in one of my good safes that are bolted to the floor, and wall.

I keep about 15 to 20 out, and they are on my bedroom dresser, the bookshelf beside me, or on the entertainment center by my keys/wallet.

Smart.
