Just curious, I am debating how I will display mine :) Not sure if I want to put them on the wall or purchase a display case.

You can potentially run out of room with a display case. The wall is cheaper and there is more of it. As a result of this dilema I store them under my bed.

Large display cases can get expensive and limit the access to the khukuri if it's needed.:(

Ryan we've given this quite a bit of discussion in the past, but IMO it's always a good topic as brand new ideas can be introduced.
We've suggested such things as using a piece of light rope with a loop for the scabbard to set in and then the other end attached to the wall, to using bent wire from coat hangers screwed onto the wall so that the belt loop can be slid over the wire.

And lately it seems the sarkis have been putting a small leather loop on the belt loop making the khukuri very easy to hang.
Then another Really great idea is Sandi and Terry's khukuri display wall mounted hangers.
I have 2 of them yet to hang up, waiting on another file cabinet from our daughter's place so as to do some rearranging.;)
Out of all the ways to hang and display khukuris I truly believe that Sandi and Terry's system is the best!!!!!!!!!
I know once Sandi and I talked about her and Terry developing a way they could be shipped in pieces already finished so that the customer could put them together, but I don't think they've got that far along as yet.
But I think they were shipping them already put together and for I think $20.00 unless I'm mistaken one can't beat what they've put together!!!!!!!!:)

I just talked with Terry and as usual they've been and are very busy. I meant to ask Terry about the cost and shipping, but when you get 2 skins talking you can bet what was gonna be asked won't be and it warn't.:D

can do double duty:

Thanks for the info Yvsa, gave me a few ideas ;) I wanted a display case to use for smaller knives also but I would probably run out of room when packing the big khuks in there. I guess I will just have to keep them in the closet until I think of something inventive. Berkley, great idea I need a new bookshelf anyway.

Thanks

Ryan

Berkley, what kind of khuk is the one in the pix on the middle shelf and right side? It is crossed with another that looks just the same. Is it a Tin Churri(spelling?) or maybe an AK? Nice pix!! They all look very nice!

Those are two large dui chirras, the one on the left and in front being older and of better quality. It is probably my very favorite khukuri of all time, and comes close to being an ideal for me. Here's a better pic:

P.S. On looking at the picture of the bookshelf, taken several years ago, it's obvious that the khukuri I referred to is not the one shown in the closeup, which is in that position now. The dui chirra on the left and in front on the bookshelf pic is now behind and to the right of the one in the closeup. Anyway, the big'un in the closeup is my fave, and books and kuks are about the homey-est things I can think of:)

That's some collection Berk :)

I dunno if I'd ever display mine. I know people who would say "Oooo a knife. Is it sharp?" Then they would proceed to make my carpet red. :(

-Children, resident or visitors, even occasional, no matter how well trained.
-Large, untrained or poorly trained dogs.
-Guests who are untrained to the extent of touching ANY weapon belonging to the host without first receiving explicit permission to do so, or whose status prevents them from being summarily ejected if they violate this rule.
-Parties or any social occasion where alcohol, in an amount more than a thimbleful of sherry, is served.
Just my curmudgeonly opinion, and I have also managed to knock one off and bounce it into my shin with the resultant "Why is my foot wet?" experience (Hint: the shoe is full of blood)without violating any of the above, so bookshelf display is not recommmended for its safety, compared to a horizontal glass display case for example:p

I had placed my Malla across a small wastebasket, positioned by an air vent to dry the last coat of oil on the handle. The Cairn, visciously attacking and retreating from the Lab, backed into the point. Even though the blade was wrapped, the shriek was audible next door. Smarter than some of my guests, he now avoids the wastebasket. He never associated the jab with the "thing" on top. My Khuks are atop my gun cabinet and loading bench shelves, until Terry gets his saw fixed :)

John,

If you ever run out of space I'll be happy to lend you some wall. :)

Dusting? I have one of my nubile young servant girls do that.

To hang these things I wrap a piece of black 18 gauge wire around the frog area and attach that to a brass or hard plastic washer. Nail in the wall for that, nail by the tip to hold it up. Piece of cake.
