How do you get rid of that rubber smell?

I just purchased an admittedly cheap tanto fixed blade. It came with a rubber handle and a sheath. But there is a strong rubber odor on the handle. Anyone have any tricks to neutralize the smell? Thanks for listening, and please at least make the jokes good!

Thank you cold kill for both the good advice and probably the best funny too. bib

You get rid of the smell by throwing it in the Pacific Ocean, and learn not to buy a knife from the back of a Boy's Life magazine. :D

Seriously, wouldn't you rather save your money and buy something that will last you your whole life?

I have bought a few cheap knives, all of them but one just to test out the company. I just bought my CS Pendleton Lite Hunter to take to Tennessee as a "don't care if it gets lost or damaged" knife. I am very impressed with the Pendleton, and all of my other cheap knives (Blackjack folder, Colt tactical folder, Gerber STL, Gerber mini Paraframe, 2 S&W small fixed blade hunters, etc.). Not a single one of them cost more than $15, and for the price, I love them all.

No need to knock someone for liking cheaper priced knives.

As far as the rubber smell, just let it sit in the garage or somewhere to air out. That gets the smell out. Might take two weeks though.

EDIT: I know this works because I once bought a cable attachment with rubber handles for my high pulley (work out machine). It smelled so bad to the point where I'd get dizzy. I just left it in the garage because the house would stink up from that strong rubber smell. Couple weeks later, the smell was gone.

I am just messing with him, nothing serious. I actually have a few bud k "440 stainless" knives.
