I've got a Mean Street on the way.

How do you carry yours? What type of sheath works best and where do you carry it on your person?

It coming in a Kydex, but I'm not sure of how it attaches.

I did carry mine on my belt but have since gone to suspenders so I took the belt loop off of the case and cary it in a pocket of my photo journalist jacket (its got 17 pockets). Carries nicely in one of the upper right hand packets with the handle down and the pocket zipped closed.

When I had Andy's DWMS on loan, i carried it on the back of my right hip. Now, i'm a big guy, but the knife acted perfectly. It never printed on shirts, and i was never asked what it was. The only problem was that it occasionally hooked the bottom of my shirt (when untucked, as always), and lifted it up over the handle. Then again, my leatherman does this, so it's not specific to the busse.

Mine rides with me in my ditty bag. When I do have it on my belt, it rides on my right side in the kydex sheath.

My old and trusted A2 MS is my constant hiking companion. It's always on my right hip or strapped to my pack. When 4wheeling, it sits in the center console.

A custom, symetrical, double side riveted, "Concealex" sheath compliments my Mean Street.

It has a Tek-Lok that allows multi-position AND location carry i.e. diagonal, vertical, horizontal, any side, upside down, saber grip draw (though I see Bob Kasper's point: see March 2001 "Tactical Knives Magazine" page 38), reverse grip draw, natural grip draw, etc. It can be used for Ankle Carry (with a strap), LBE Carry, Belt Carry, Pack Carry, Suspender Carry, etc.

The TLIQ (Tek Lok In Question) can be removed and replaced with an IWB (Inside the Waist Band) Loop that can be placed anywhere also for multiple carry options.

For those not familiar, let me explain. When you screw on the IWB Loop to the "top o the sheath" you can insert the sheath inside your waist band and wrap the IWB Loop around your belt OWB (Outside the Waist Band), and then snap it back to itself to secure the sheath so that it will not pull out with the knife upon your draw.

Lastly, the double riveted, symetrical sheath has many rivet holes for lashing to anything with paracord, twine, etc.

I am also a BIG FAN of the Kenny Rowe Custom Leather Sheaths Andy Prisco offers. They have some very unique "features" that can secure the blade and sheath very effectively yet still enable quick/easy sheath removal and blade draw. His patterns and tooling are the best custom leather knife sheaths I have seen.

Some folks don't want to spend the money on a custom sheath. "IMHO" and it is "H" I will plunk down the cash for'em in a heartbeat. My reasoning is that if I am going to spend the money on such a quality piece (knife), why not spend the money on a unique, effective, custom sheath, tailored exactly to my specs.

Moreover, if you are going to carry it daily, I like comfort and OPTIONS.

Just my $.02.

Enjoy your Mean Street!

Hey GPB...

Absolutely "right on" Eric, and your welcome. I have heard ABSOLUTELY GREAT things about your custom Kydex and Concealex sheaths. I am certain I will be buying a few in the near future. You will hear from me soon!

I have never heard a complaint from someone who purchased one of yours, or any other custom sheath. Once again "IMHO" they simply make sense.

Out.

Hi, since I got my Lean Mean Street from Andy, I've been using the Kydex sheath it came with,(don't really care for it). However, since I'm a big fan of Matt Draper's(Waxes Eloquent) sheaths, it's off to him for one of his great concealex sheaths that I can carry I.W.B. or right side belt carry. Can't wait to get it back!

I had 2 blade-tech sheaths made for the MS. One kydex pouch style for belt
One kydex IWB with reversible loops

This takes care of most social situations

I have 2 MS variants, 1 MS, and a LMS on the way. As soon as it gets here, all 4 MSs are going to Kenny Rowe for kydex-lined leather pouch and mountain man sheaths.

Ill let you know how it turns out.

Since I'm amongst sheeple too often, I usually keep mine in a small tool kit bag in the back of the car so that it's "with" me. While working on projects around the home, it's constantly attached to my tool belt.

The kydex has held up exceptionally well, and reinforces my preference to them. If I had more reason or opportunity to wear it IWB, I'd certainly look into some of the options discussed here, they sound like some great sheaths.

i have a blade-o-leer sheath system for the mean street for sale in the individual for sale forum...thanks...feverdoc@yahoo.com

Strabs, from what I hear, it's the last one to come from the factory. Tan slabs, krinkle finish, bright fasteners.

Feverdoc, I'm not familiar with Blade-o-leer, can you point me to a link with details?

hey Roger,
I don't have a MS (yet) but I keep my daily carry in a concealex belt buckle(horizontal)by yours truly. most comfortable carry option I've found!

Well after all this talk and some thought I decided to start carrying and using a Meanstreet... I have a new older infi and a late issue and decided to use the new instead of sell... I really like it although it bit me this mornin' during a draw from the standard sheath in an akward sit down position... man they should not let me play with sharp things!
