Hey guys, without getting into the whole knife vs. axe thing, I wanted to know how the people who use a big and small knife, how do you carry it?

As in, when you have a small fixedblade, and a large one, I assume 7-8" and up, where and how do you carry it?

Just to let you know what I do, is I have a fixed blade on my right thigh, or belt, the a leatherman beside that, then on my left side I have a smal belt psk. Also I have my axe in my hand, or around once I get it dont, I'll have a thing to wear it on my back, like wearing a shoulder bag.

So what and how do you carry?

PS. Pics would be nice :).

When I take my Becker C/U-7 with me, it rides in my rucksack. My SAK in a pocket and a 4" fixed blade on my belt.

I carry a the large blade on the left strap of my pack where I can reach across and get to it easily. I carry a SAK or leatherman in a pouch on one of the side compression straps of the pack. and I carry a folder, usually a Strider SnG in my right front pocket, so even when I set the pack down I'll still have a knife handy.

The best thing is the looks from the Sierra Club types  when you pass them on a trail :D

This depends on where i am hiking but the large knife or small hatchet go in a side pocket of my pack or attachet to the outside, a small fixed on my belt and a multi tool in my pocket, and usually my Endura in my front hip pocket.

Pistol belt with BK-1 strapped to right thigh. The sheath has a sealed mag bar taped to it. Canteen on left side. Two good lengths of para cord neatly wrapped on belt. The rest of my junk sits in one of two rucksacks. Mora, a few folders, tomahawk etc will ride in bag, dependant on what I want to bring and what would be appropriate. Although I almost always have a small folder in pocket. My Manix is supposed to be here Mon. or Tues. I really don't know how I will approach it in regard to EDC, on trips etc., have to see how it feels to find its place. My philosophy is simple, other than water, bring redundant cutting and fire starting resources. I am also playing with the idea of drilling a hole in the little Ericksson Mora (top down through to bottom, so it still lies flat on chest) that I picked up, so it can neck hang from the handle and not the cheesey plastic sheath. I never gave a fiddlers fart about these Mora's, but after moding one for kitchen use, I'm starting to like them a bit more.

Large (9" blade) Goes on the right side of my pack, hidden by a pouch but over the shoulder accessable. Small SAK as a neck knife. 4" fixed blade dropped on right hip.

I usually carry my sak field master in my right pocket with a lanyard sticking out so I can pull it out readily....My new Ag woodswalker is worn in a neck sheath (so when wearing a pack I don't have to fuss to much) and my newest addition my 12 inch ontario machete resides in my pack velcroed to the inner right side, with the handle exposed enough that I can grab it and draw it from the pack (while wearing it) without too much trouble.

I carry my BM210 around my neck under my shirt but on top of my T-shirt....nearly every day.

My SOG S62 goes on the belt near my right kidney. EDC

My BM975 I wear inside the waistband to the right of my belt buckle. EDC

My RAT-3 goes on my belt - either on the right side or on the left in reverse carry. Nearly every day.

When hiking and camping, my BM Nimravus goes on my right hip and I may or may not carry the RAT-3 on the left side.

If I'm lugging my backpack, the Nimravus goes on the left shoulder strap, hanging upside down. I don;t wear the RAT-3 when backpacking but, to date, it's been in the backpack on two trips since I got it.

when i go out in the urban jungle, my blur, military or ti-lite goes in the normal place. right pocket; clipped. if i think its going to be kinda crazy, i would take my cs 5" peacekeeper, and put it in the small of my back, like where you would keep a pistol. works great too. but i dont have it anymore. id replace that with an m3 trenchknife now.

in the field (on duty) i just carry my glock field knife on my lbe, and my cs hawk strapped to my ruck. when camping, my kabar in a blackhawk sheath goes on my belt; right hip. my machete or gerber camp axe gets strapped to my ruck, and if im bringing a hawk, thatll either go on my ruck, or my belt. carried the traditional way. in my pocket, dummy corded, will either be a victorinox trekker, or my military.

I carry my BK-7 on a US Army pistol belt and my NRGS neck knife around my neck. Mac

I carry my large knives on my pack and carry a smaller fixed blade and SAK on my belt.

Depends if work or pleasure.

If work, example: cutting a live tree down (like for firewood) then it carries on my web//pistol belt, left side (left handed) and as far back as it can go without sitting on it.

If pleasure, like camping/hiking, then definitely in a pack, or behind it, or strapped to the side of it.

Tried carrying sideways, on back, between pack and strap, so that I could draw it from behind, but......
A. Never needed to, and
B. Wasn't comfortable.

My various puukko/Moras go on a breakaway stitched loop of lampwicking ( spare tinder) for neck carry. My Wetterling slips into a ski slot on my german army daypack. My crosscut saw gets packed in old firehose and strapped on top of my packmule. She hasn't registered @ Bladeforums yet to discuss this.

Large knife or hatchet strapped to my pack, medium sized sheath knife on my belt, folder in my pocket.

never noticed that, but good idea though. i also like the phillips or leather punch/reamer on my trekker for a nice punch weapon. my trekker is an outstanding kobotan. (if thats spelled right) i can punch you with the screwdriver, or hammer fist your temple, with the bottom of the knife. and theres that little aluminum keyring thing, that will knock the **** out of you to. i like it :)
