I sharpened up a coldsteel urban pal tonight and found it nearly impossible to sharpen the small teeth between the larger scallops. How do you guys go about doing so? the large scallops I had sharpened with a small screwdriver and sandpaper and finished it off on my slotted paper wheel. I was tempted to just grind the thing to a plain edge blade but its not my knife so I pretty much just left the small ones which look like rodent teeth/claws.

I use the spyderco sharpmaker to sharpen serrated blades. Use the corners of the fine stones.

Hmm cold steel serration pretty much suck for me. I use a tapered round file and sharpen each one.

i use a sharpmaker too for the urban pal, the only serrated knife from cold steel i own.
great little knife, too bad is illegal to carry in most places...

I though of using my sharpmaker corners and the crevices between the small teeth are much much too small for that.

the serrations im talking about are between these ones you can use a tapered round file. they look like small needles, about 2 with 3 very small spaces between each which are the width of each of the larger scallops.

I sharpen the back side on my edge pro and then lightly buff the front side with the corner of my paper wheel.

Yeh, I have one of those urban pals somewhere here. I've used the tapered round file that comes with the DMT aligner kit. It does get to them a bit but I agree that it doesn't really do a good job. That's why I don't really like CS's serrations. I wonder if you can use a folded piece of wet/dry to get into those though.

I actually did try that just now. didn't really seem to work that well and I pretty much gave up after about 30 mins seeing as I highly doubt anyone will notice. If it were my knife, I wouldn't stop till the damn thing would split hair but meh, I think they will only use the tip of it mostly to cut open boxes. The little spikes were also getting dull and I wish I could have made them pointy again but oh well. I'd rather just grind the damn thing to a plain edge as well as the other end to make it double sided and then just buy a new one for the guy. It would have saved me time and aggravation I think in the end.

Agreed! That's why I don't carry the darn thing anymore since I don't like to carry a dull knife.

i load up the corner of my slotted wheel and buff the serrations one at a time until i get them all sharp. you can also use a popsickle stick with some sandpaper wrapped around it to work up a burr before going to the slotted wheel.

I tried that for a bit but it really tears the crap out of the corners worst then sand paper. I guess im trying to save them for the bigger serrations.
