How do you hang your khuks

I'd kind of like to hang my khuks on a wall both for decoration and for someplace to keep them. What do you use? I'm not looking for something like a permanent mounting, I want to be able to grab one and go chop when khukuri kraziness hits me!

You may want to look into a sword rack, either purchasing one or building your own. I keep telling myself this very thing; my collection continues to hang from nails along the edge of my work bench. :)

Most people just put them in a bucket. Bucket O Khuks. I'm always afraid if I display them the one encounter from a break-in I'll ever get will be an idiot waving one of my own khuks at me.

Have I mentioned lately I'm paranoid?

I have the exact same fears Munk. :) The butcher knives in the kitchen concern me a little too. My bedroom is upstairs so I worry someone will break in during the night and greet me with one of my favorite blades. Makes it a tough decision about hanging one on the wall. Shame, as I have a very nice sword I would like to put up there too.

Of course this all assumes I am asleep and unaware of the intruder. Otherwise the Khuk in their hands will make it all the easier to pull the trigger of the Rem 870 that will be in mine.

I understand the concern about putting them in the open, but thats not one of my primary fears.

Hey Shann,
Most of my khuks have a little leather loop on top of the belt loop of the frog. I use that to hang them from a picture frame hook. I found some hooks at Lowes (or Home Depot?) that looked decent, since they're not hidden behind a picture, and were brass colored, so they match the accents on the khuks.
Just pick 'em up off the hook and I'm ready to go.

Something like this. Has a brass pin that holds it to the wall.

Most of mine, while cared for, are pretty beat up with scratches and stains. I don't keep any of mine pretty enough to hang up, and none of them are old enough to be shown off as "antique" or anything. Most of my collection is stashed for easy access: Kat by the bed, JKM and bilton on the dresser for EDC, AK bowie where ever I am, etc. The rest get hung on a nail in the guest bedroom. It has to be a creepy stay for our guests. The guest room is also the ferret's room, the room with all of the work our equipment, and the room where my better half displays her creepy evil looking antique dolls. I don't like working out in there. I feel like i'm being watched;)
I like hanging them by the scabbards. The ones that are pretty enough to be pulled from there scabbards are easy to access, while the ones with a bad case of the uglies get hung a little higher;) It's also a safety issue for me. i don't want an earthquake or big bump to the wall to knock my blades to the floor dinging them up, cutting the carpet, and probably bisecting my ferret. If they fall now at least he has SOME kind of chance.
I do have the idea of cleaning up my khuks with a sander or buffer (or having it professionally done) and putting in a lighted in wall glass case wth each getting their own stand to rest on.

Mine are scattered all over the place--next to the woodstove, in the kitchen, next to my bed, in the library.

Same here I'm going to build that rack some day :D :D

Has anyone consideredjust kinda cleaving them into a handy interior wall? One could affix a thick sheet of ply-wood to the wall,..then just slice a few inches of the balde into the wood.handy to grab with the handles all sticking out,..and a heck of a conversation-piece.If any one asks,..you could say you were taking up knife-throwing!

I have a pegboard running along a wall where I hang mine.

I can't recall the thread, but there's one here somewhere that has a pic of John Powell with a wall covered with khuks, but I can't see how they actually hang there they are horizontal. Maybe if he reads this he can give us a close up.
