I've been doing a lot of searching and am trying to find how you guys can nail down the exact year on a lot of these old 110s. While its easy to post some pics and have everyone tell me, i'd like to save everyone's time and look them up myself. I've found a few photo albums showing 1st version, 2nd variation and all (man there are a lot out there ;) ), I haven't found how you guys were able to tell me my grandfathers old 110 was a 1970 last week, for instance.

Since posting those pics of my grandpa's oldest 110, i've become hooked. Haven't carried or owned a buck for almost 20 years and now there are 4 sitting here beside me. (881 BG42, 532 BG42, old 110, and 503 I just bought for my wife and am about to send out to get some new scales put on and filework done)

I just bought a 2 dot off ebay since it is in the range of the year I was born, and I liked the idea of having a 110 as old as me. From Buck's site I know the 2 dot makes it 74-80, but how do I narrow it down father?

Thanks,

Yes, The blade guide is one of the best info sources. My wife went through mine and put a green sticky tag on the Buck pages and some others she found interesting.

The Buck Collector Club is also another source of info. Buck knives website too....

Just hang around a while...osmosis sets in....:D

If you send me an email, I can send you a data sheet showing the 110/112 versions. :)

Bought the knife for your wife?? I haven't tried that one yet. "But honey, I bought this knife for you"  I think she would see right through me! :D

My wife picked out 5 or 6 clampack 110's in the 2002 anniv anvil's. She enjoyed being able to look at the wood and selecting the best ones. So she ept one for her back pack until she "discovered" one of my 112's. So she traded the 100 year 110 back to me for the 112.

What a girl...:D

My wife's birthday is coming up, and i've been asking her about what she wants in a knife. She gets a bit irritated (a bit like when I asked her last year what kind of flashlight she wanted) and tells me her present better not be a knife! So later that day when i'm asking some more knife questions, she says "My MAIN present better not be a knife!"

I told her at least she is being realistic now. ;)

She also said she didn't want one unless it was pink, and when I showed her a few pink knifes, she said she only wanted a lockback since they were all liner locks. I'm guessing she figured there was no way i'd be able to pull that one off. SO, I found someone to re-scale a prince for me using primrose corian.

I'll be sure to post pictures of the Prince-ess when I get it done.
