How do you like the grip on your Game Warden?

First post in the Busse forum as I just received my first Busse GW
After some time on the sharpmaker it is hair popping sharp and I really like it but there are a few things I don't really like.
1.It's a G10 version, the scales feel very smooth and dont really have a grippy feeling.
2.There is no jimping on the spine for your thumb.

How do you guys think about this? I'm thinking about adding jimping to the spine of the blade by a knifemaker over here.

I think you should consider the SAR3 if you are looking for a better grip on both the handles and a little something on the spine. I'm not sure what a jimping is but that might help because there is a bit of grip for your thumb...

Yep - the SAR3 solves your handle grip and thumb jimping issue...

You should be able to sell your GW to cover the cost of a SAR3 also.

Congrats and welcome to the Busse forum!

Lot's of people mod their knives, so go for it. One small point, is that it may hurt your ability to sell it in the future.

I would say that natural-handled GW's are far grippier than G10. I dislike G10 for the most part.

Jimping is over-rated. Skip it.

I find that my black G10 is great, especially when wet. As far as jimping, if you like it, get it. It is one thing I prefer on users.

Well some factory jimping is indeed not very usefull like on my ESEE Izula, it's a cheap knife so i modded it myself with a file.

Now it really grabs your thumb :D

But since the GW is a more expensive knife it would let an expert do it.
I have been looking at the SAR3 and it looked much bigger in the pictures, but it is really not much bigger then a GW, next time I should do some more research :o

I think if you really edc the GW, you'll really appreciate the comfort of the handle (since we carry more than use the knife). I don't care if the GW handle is rubbing my side, but the Sar:eek:!!! You know when that handle is close by. It's great in use, but not near as carry comfortable as the GW.

My Game Warden has the standard handle scales and I like the way the rounded handle fits up in my hand. The standard scales don't seem slippery to me at all.

As for jimping under the thumb, count me in as one of the folks who says it's highly over rated. I wouldn't want it.

Stay sharp,

I also like the handle on the GW.

I also like the more aggressive handles on meaners, AD's, etc.

The SAR3 did feel too sharp in areas. I would have to knock a few edges off if I had one.

The Thumb jimping gives me mixed feelings. I do like it some of the time, but if I am really working a knife hard, and using a lot of thump pressure, then jimping tears up my thumb. Even without the jimping, I can tear the skin on my thumb. Maybe I am using too much thumb pressure some times.
