Hey everyone I just bought a blue plain edge dodo off ebay. I always thought it was interesting so i figured i would try it out.

Ill post pictures when It comes in, but if you guys and girls have any pictures of yours next to other spydies i'd love to take a look.

Also how do you like them, is the blade shape as useful as people say?

Thanks :)

Have you given much thought to possible sharpening options?
That's the first thing I think of when I look at the Dodo, is "How the hell would I go about sharpening that??"
:P

Sharpening is simple on the sm. I always wanted one and finally found one last year. I love the design but the handle just doesn't fit my hand well. :(

Well i have a steel touch up rod which works wonders. Just need about 2-3 passes on each side to correct my micro bevel on all my knives whenever i need. So that would be my sharpening solution.

This was my experience as well. Traded for one, and found it one of the most uncomfortable I have held, which is a shame because I like small knives. The humps in the handle just managed to be offset perfectly to be the opposite of ergonomical.

Yep, agree. The middle gap is too wide and my pinkie ended up riding on the ridge...especially in the choked up grip with thumb on spine (which is the key grip for the dodo IMO). Oh well, my girlfriend became obsessed with mine so I gave it to her. She loves the shape, color and name and carries it as her keychain. To the best of my knowledge she has never cut anything with. Oh well, at least it's getting carried which is more than can be said for some of the dodo safe queens out there. :D

I had an orange dodo for a few months... I liked it a lot for the unique design and coolness factor, but did not use it much and eventually sold it.

I found that it does not work well for food/fruit prep (no surprise), which is one of the main uses of my EDC. I prefer general purpose designs, since I only carry one spydie at a time.

I've had two and while I love the design, I just never found them practical or useful so rather than sit in the safe, I sold them both off. I still think they are cool and look fantastic however they just don't work for my daily needs.

When I received the carbon Dodo I thought I was shipped an empty box. Crazy light weight. Build quality is exceptional and I find the ergos to be acceptable, for my hand anyway.
The ceramic ball is a little sticky but not overly so and can be operated with one finger almost easier than using thumb and a finger to disengage the lock.
The small blade is limiting sometimes but for its size it's effective.
Really an aggressive cutter but I wouldn't bring it to a BBQ.

And the obligatory photo.

I've got a SE original, and while I love it dearly (the handle really works for me, don't know what it is exactly) I left it with my brother to sell when I moved stateside. I loved the tip for detailed cutting jobs, it was my leatherworking knife for a while.

I like them in orange, blue, black and carbon fiber. I like them with pants, shorts, and kilts. They're great with boxes and MBC applications. That's how I like my dodos.

Will you like them on a train, will you, would you in the rain? Do you use them on a boat, would you like them with a goat? ;)

I would have to say 'yes' to your question...the blade looks pretty funky but despite this and its small size, it is stupid aggressive when it comes to cutting. As you move through the cut, the tip embeds itself deeper into the material allowing an easier slice-through. I find it also gives a really good grip to stop slippage. I'm not in love with the lock but also don't hate it.

Sure I'd use them Surfingringo, I'd even use them with my bingo
I do like them here and there. Heck, I like them anywhere!

I bought one of the orange sprint runs and really like it. Carried it for awhile as and EDC knife but it didn't work out for me very well in that role. If I had a job where I would be opening boxes or cutting a lot of cardboard, it would be great. I don't plan on selling it as I'm sure I would regret it. I wish I could have afforded one of the CF versions when they came out, I've handle one and love it.
