How do you loosen a leather sheath that's too tight?

I just got a leather sheath that's a little too tight for the knife it was made for. How do you guys break yours in? For gun holsters, I usually put a sock over the gun and store it in the holster for a few days. Didn't know if it would work for a sheath though...

Any help would be appreciated - this thing is almost impossible to draw!

get some baseball glove oil and a rubber mallet. Oil and pound... dont pound any parts that are metal. I do this with my pistol leather from milt sparks but they make some nice leather stuff and it wont fall apart. If the rubber mallet is a bit to drastic just oil it up and let it stretch. Dont know how the knife will handle the leather but i can put a Beretta in my leather holster after being oiled up and leave it for a week and it wont rust or anything.
