how do you loosen the triad lock

If you are comfortable with taking it apart you can round off (polish) the end of the lock spring and where it contacts on the lock bar. I did my Rajah II and it's a little better.
 
Olay thanks I will look at that but won't do it right away seeing I just got it a few hours ago. But will remember that for the future
 
It will get better with time. My Recon 1 was very stiff and had to be pushed completly before un locking. Over time its gotten quite a bit better but will never be one of my smoothest.

I would suggest give it time and see how it does.
 
to loosen the triad lock get a tennis ball and squeeze it as hard as you can 50 times before breakfast, 50 times before lunch and 50 times before dinner and after a week or so your triad lock will loosen up
 
Just leave it half open for awhile, probably overnight, that will reduce the tension. Don't leave it too long otherwise it will be the weakest lock ever.
