Hey Guys,

I was just curious how y'all maintain your blue / bleach etching your Becker's? I have read mineral oil, but is there anything else?

Do you just re-blue and sand when the black and the silver starts to not stand out so much?

Thanks in advance!

Yep, mineral oil.

Take some fine grit wet/dry sandpaper to it when the patina gets too dark for you and then reblue.

I just let it do it's own thing. I keep all of my blades lightly wiped with mineral oil. Actually, J&J baby oil to be exact. I usually don't reblue, just let a natural patina form.

lol.. i thought that might be a reference to the whispering eye (role models movie)..lol

actually sounds like some interesting stuff!!! excellent!

its what I use on my handmade knives.. there's also flitz wax which another awesome choice... their obviously not edible like mineral oil but it doesn't come off either so there should be no worries with food prep.. I still use mineral oil for some things and used it exclusively for a long time, until I stored a HI Khukuri for a long time with mineral oil all over it, unsheathed it and it was rusted..

Ren Wax is great, although expensive and hard to find.

Car wax, carnauba wax, bees wax all will work, so will Johnson's Paste Wax. Use these on guns and knives.

that's funny that CWL brought that up..

I just did a little experiment last week with some Turtle Wax Chrome Cleaner I had, its a cleaner and wax... Its really one of those trial and errors of life to find just what you like and most importantly for "free" if at all possible.. :D
