How do you organize your tools?

I have tools accumulated over the years and want to get them organized, other than having them in any tool bag in which they fit. The catch is that some are general purpose (pliers, screwdrivers, saws), but others are specialized (pipe wrenches, electrician's tools, automotive tools). Does everyone own a giant tool chest and put them all together, or do you split them up in some way? Looking for storage ideas before heading to the store. Photos welcome. ;)

I practice the "order of retrieval" system in the garage. Things that get used the most frequently are placed right where I can see them and grab them. Items in the second level are in drawers, items in the third level are on shelves.

At my home workshop I divide my hand tools up and the ones that get used frequently I have hanging on a pegboard over the workbench. I know where everything is and I can reach out and grab it very quickly.
I had my auto mechanic tools in a toolbox that I carried in my car but I wanted to have better access to them so I bought a rolling toolbox. The mechanic tools go in the top and in the bottom I have a drawer for drills and related stuff. The other drawers in the bottom have duplicates and misc. other tools that don't get used frequently.
I have shelves in my garage that contain other tools such as circular saw, extra drills, bench grinder, etc.
I built a new rolling workbench last year that also contains my table saw and serves as an outfeed table. My router is mounted under the table so the table can be used as a router table.

Pegboard, various other forms of wall hanging, and plenty of toolboxes.

I have my main box in the garage ( my grandfather's 1974 Waterloo top box )
A small 2 drawer box in the Vintage reel and airgun work station in the " man cave ", the maxed out Toyo ST350 house / go box, the extensive 1/4dr kit in a Snapon party box, and other small toolboxes in miscellaneous places.
Then theres pegboard and wall mount storage for other things, all the hammers and demo / nail pulling type pry bars hanging on the wall.
The WILDE handle pry bars are a different story.
