I found this pic on the forums and would like to try it. The owner of the pic said he oxidized it. Anyone know how to oxidized titanium?

Thanks,
Shayn

I have read of it before. Use oxiclean and boiling water to oxidize the titanium to a dark colour.

I'd also like to know how durable is that finish?

I've never tried it myself, but it sounds like the durability is similar to anodized titanium. It can scratch and wear off eventually.

Hey man, the handle on you tactical drop point, what is it made of? Is that a filed in pattern. Pics on your website are so small I can't really see anything. Really cool design.

Sorry don't mean to hijack the thread, carry on.

Well I gave it a shot and here are the results. It looks a little darker in person, but not as dark as I was hoping.

Is that using the oxiclean? How long did you keep it in?

I have used oxiclean to darken Ti quite a few times. Works well, I usually leave it in around an hour. Here is a recent one I did.

To get the darkest Ti however the best way is to heat it red hot with a torch, wire wheel, repeat.
