(How) Do you pair your SAKs?

I've started pairing up my SAKs to get optimum tool coverage with minimum bulk. Although I could carry the SwissChamp, I don't like the angle of some of the tools with a "package" that thick. I try not to overlap tool spread too much. O One goes in the watch pocket of my jeans (the thinner of the pair), and one in my messenger bag. For example, I might put a Mechanic in the jeans and a Ranger in the bag.

Just curious as to whether and how others pair theirs.

Best regards.

I actually EDC a Leatherman Juice with my SAK. I EDC a SAK Sportsman and a Leatherman Jucie S2. I use a Gerber pouch I found in EMS that has two seperate pockets and wear it on my belt. I don't like puting SAK's in my pocket as the get full of lint too easily.

This way I get the best of both worlds in a small package - I get a decent sized plier tool from the S2 with a pair of sissors and a philips head screwdriver. I don't favour using knife blades on a plier tool, and as I don't use the knife on my S2 it remains razor sharp in case of an emergency. I love Leatherman's Juice line, but if Victorionox made something similar I would ditch it for theirs.

With the Sportsman I get a decent knife blade for EDC use, a nail file and tweezers. I also acquired (FREE of charge from the SAK store - gotta love Victorinox's customer service, I was prepared to pay for it) one of the mini screwdrivers that fits in the corkscrew.

As an aside, the Sportsman has been my best friend and when I went to use it yesterday it wasn't there. I was upset all day thinking how I had lost it. Luckily when I went to my car at the end of the day it was sitting on the seat. It had fallen out of the pouch. I will take more care in the future.

I like to carry a light SAK with heavy Multi or a medium SAK with a Medium Multi.
Most of the time I'll carry my Leatherman Surge on my hip with a SAK Soldier or Spartan in my watch pocket. On days I don't feel like lugging the Surge around I'll opt for my Leatherman Fuse and my Explorer or Ranger (depending on if i think i'll need a saw).
Good enough for me.

Typically it is 3 small folders for work; a SAK, folding box cutter, and small locking folder. I am currently carrying a Victorinox Compact paired up with a Superknife Edge and a Buck Mini Taclite.

I usually carry an old Leatherman Wave on my belt, a Vic Recruit in my pocket, and a Vic Mini-Champ on my keyring.

I think I will be getting the "blast" in black as a gift for the hollidays. I have a SAK Mechanic from several years ago (maybe 7 years ago). I also have a small SAK "Pocket Pal" that is really a two blade pocket knife without any other tools...very simple, very elegant (>15 years ago). I think I should have the tools I will need between the three of these.

I always have a SAK MiniChamp on my key chain ...... and a LM Charge clipped to my belt ..... I'm ready for anything :)

My favorite pair is a Spirit on my belt and a Tourist Alox (84mm with blade, combo tool, and scissors) in my pocket. That combination can do an amazing variety of work.

I *always* carry a Victorinox Recruit and a small Winchester multitool with me, as they are on my keyring. I carry that Recruit because it has a decent knife, and a bottle opener. I carry the multitool because it has scissors, nail clippers, and a file.

The two cover each other nicely.

When I go to work, I also carry some kind of full knife (either a folding knife, or a fixed blade on my belt), and a full sized multitool with pliars and a bit set.

When not at work, I find the additional knife and multitool to be excessive.

I'm a graduate student. When on campus, I carry a Swisstool Spirit in my backpack and a Spartan in my right front pocket (along with a Spyderco Native III or another main EDC knife). One weekends or whenever I'm without my bag, I carry a new Wave with a clip in my left front pocket.

My current EDC combo is a SwissTool X Plus and a Deluxe Tinker. I know -- redundant tools -- but I like this configuration a lot since I have redundancy. =P Gotta love 'em! =)

The Vic two-layer Tinker in my pocket and the Leatherman Blast on my belt don't get in the way and can handle just about anything I need gripped, pried, cut, screwed or unscrewed.

I like the way I can either pistol grip (plier jaws in) or "T"-grip (plier jaws half out) the Blast half-open when using any of the drivers, or the metal or wood saw blades. Makes for good tool control and extra leverage even in difficult spots.

Just wish we could get the driver bits for the Blast in South Africa and that we had the same sort of back-up you have in North America.

I carry an Alox Soldier, paired with the Swisscard lite in my wallet. So I get scissors and a large blade, but in a much slimmer (albeit two-piece) form factor.

My mini-B.O.B. has a Victorinox SwissTool in it's pouch, and a Ranger hanging from a mini-carbiner. I pair them together because of the overlap in tools, just in-case one tool/implement gets broken, I have a back-up.

For EDC I pair my SAK (the one with scissors and saw blade) with my Squirt
P4. If I know I will be doing heavier work, I pair the same SAK with my Supertool 200 on my belt. (only very rarely) The P4 is small, but I have found those pliers to be pretty useful.

Many thanks Oregon
Have sent them an e-mail and hope to get a response soon.

Your help much appreciated. Leatherman has a good reputation in this country for honouring its warranty and the basic LM lines are well represented, even if very high priced, in most camp, climb and general outdoors shops. Its the add-ons that are difficult to get and an earlier e-mail to the same address was either ignored or lost.

But I really like my Blast, so live in hope of adding to it.
regards
Ogtam
