How do you prevent rust on a wrapped handle?

Noticing that a number of you folks with the Izula or Necker wrap the handles with paracord or leather lace. I am wondering how it is that you prevent rust under the wrap after a day of wet weather or even just wet hands?

It seems that some moisture would have to be trapped between the wrapping and the metal, not be able to be removed without a lot of bother and lead ultimately to bad things. Is this not so?

Thanks

Most of them are coated with a epoxy/duracoat coating. For plain uncoated handles a treatment of Tuff Glide or similar protectant work great.

Since the Izula is coated, the only areas you need to pay attention to are the serial number and other etchings. I just wipe on whatever is handy before wrapping weather it's olive oil, wd-40, bees wax etc. Never a problem.

I would have thought that moisture in the wrapping would eventually cause a problem even with the coating. The fact that it does not is good to know.
