Just wondering where can you buy 440c and the best way to heat treat :D also if your wondering the only steel that I've made knives of is 1095

Admiral Steel sells 440C stock in a bunch of sizes, from 1/16" to 1/4" thick and a variety of widths and lengths.

You can buy it from most of the steel suppliers. 1900 for 30-45 mins. Plate quench, subzero, temper at 375

440C is fairly common; you may also be able to get small quantities at local industrial suppliers like MSC, Fastenal, Grainger etc. Even if they don't have it in stock they might be willing to order it in and not charge you for shipping.

Since your on the subject of 440c, does anyone know if and how one could bring the Rockwell down below 50? I see several tables lowering it to 56 but was wondering if it could go lower?

Between 500-600 you are in the 50-52RC range for 440C (according to Bohler N695 datasheet)
But some stainless steels when tempered at these temperatures lose some of its corrosion resistance and toughness, so keep that in mind.

I have the ability to heat to that temperature but how long do I hold it there and how fast should I let it cool? If I bring it hotter will it go below 50RC
