Is there diffrent ways like; well cant actually show you but does it sound like

bal eye song

bal e song

ball e song

or did i miss it altogther?

I always say it as : Baa Lee Song, using the pronounciation of the island of the same name to reference the first part of the name. I'm sure that's an Americanized pronounciation, so I'll defer to those forumites that speak the language.

bal ee SONG

My source, mom. Yes, she's Filipina; no, I don't speak tagalog. Unless you wanna count food names. :D (Great, now I'm hungry for some adobo and pansit)

baal-iss-ong

bal-EEE-song takes too long to pronounce.

And I'm half philipino too.

my grandpa (philipino); we call him papa. So he was here a little while ago and my dad brought home some food from him. He said "Do you want some tapa from papa?"

Thanx hardheart, now you got me hungry for some Kang-kong, sinigong, lumpia:D . But no thanks to the patiz or bogo-ong:barf:

People have been literally waiting years for my mom to make them some fried lumpia-the uninitiated just see it as egg rolls (back in the day she had a couple restaurants, still has a bit of a following from some of her friends). I kinda like patis, but my dad likes it better than I, just ignore the name-sauce/fish HOW?!?! EEEWWW :). How 'bout some balut? :barf:

Edit: Yeah Darth, accenting on the middle syllable draws it out too long. I'm not great at phonetic spelling. Here's an awkward description- say it quick, kinda try to push your tongue against your teeth like when you make a 'th' sound, accent the last syllable.
