on a M4 Bayonet? You have to take the lug off right? Do you have to remove the peening?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
John

Can you take a picture of the pin area? May be simple to do but you want to keep in mind that you will want to resecure it after you are done with what it is you want to do......

If your just talking about the end buttplate, just grind down past the peening and lift it off.

If you're talking about the guard, like the thread title suggests, you'll have to pound down, or hold down the pressed up areas of the tang(in a vise maybe) to remove it.

Are you going to make a knife out of it? I used to do that about 25-30 years ago. They make a neat, slim little knife. In fact, I did one for a neighbors kid out of his bayonet a couple of years ago. :D
