How do you replicate a Villager blade's finish?

Guys, I touched up a 18.5" villager gelbu special with a screwed up tip and would like to touch up the satin finish the kamis do on the blade. Does anyone know how they do it and/or have approaches to come close? I have sanders, buffers, and so forth that I can use once I have a general idea.

My first thoughts were a wire wheel or maybe a flap sander but the finish is so consistent that I am unsure.

Best wishes to all,

Ronin

I have found that using red Scotchbrite pads with oil works to put a good satin finish back on a user khuk. If it is more messed up than the scotchbrite can refinish use emery cloth with oil. Try starting at 220 or 320. Be cautious when hand sanding near the edge though. I have cut myself severly by not being careful at the edge.

I'll have to check into that archangel. Hmmmmm, I may even have a 2" red disc that I could test with by hand or I'll pick one up if need be. Thank you.

i have found a good amount of elbow grease and the green scotch brite pad does a fair job of imitating the satin finish

i would imagine if you found a wheel to go on the buff it would work extremely fast. maybe check a place like graingers for wheels. here recently i got a 3m polishing wheel from them.

try something similar to these. i would use these types of things to clean intakes/heads before putting gaskets back on. from what i remember they would put a finish similar to the satin.
you should be able to find 1 like these for bench grinders with 1/2"/1" arbor holes/mounts

if you try, remember to try on a scrap piece of metal to see which grit works best for your likings

I agree, a red 5" scotchbright wheel does a great job making a nice satin finish. I just went from a full polish to a villiger on my blem YCS.
