How do you set a value on a knife?

This is one that I kind of struggle with. Other than fleabay, I wouldn't know where to look to in an effort to set a price on a knife that I might sell. How do you folks do it?

With firearms, you have the Blue Book of Gun Values and the online auction sites. To my knowledge, there is no such thing with knives.

That sounds great, but most remove the sales price here in the sales area.

My only approach would be purchase price (if I can remember) less %.

Depends on where you want to sell it and why and to whom and the state of the knife and the price of that knife new or on past transactions if it's a discontinued model.

If you want to flip knives for profit you must scavenge and plow through the web and buy cheap and sell high(er).

If you want to sell for funds you can start by copying the average of the price that knife sold in other auctions.

If you want to sell on the forums or on other amicable places I recommend charging 80 to 70% of full retail price if your knife is mint without use and with box etc... or if it's rare and sought after. You can also sell any knife regardless for the price of other sold knives minus some tens of dollars, that will keep the buyers happy.

The best deal is good ratings and happy buyers that feel they got a good deal, don't be greedy selling knives or any other valuable that's your hobby for that matter. In the end your reputation and feeling of having done good is the most important thing.

If I don't want a knife that I have, I just give it away.
Nothing I have is worth selling.
I have mostly Rough Rider, Marbles, and Taylor/BTI Schrade.
What I can sell it for is never a consideration when I buy a knife.
There are far better investments than knives to make a profit with, and I can't afford those, either.
