Anybody know how to sharpen the serrations on cold steel knives? Is there a special sharpener you can use? (and where can I get one?)

I would like to keep the serrations intact instead of just grinding them all off... so help me out if you can!

Thanx in advance.

From what I know, we just can't sharpen it. Even CS can't sharpen their own serrations. :(

There are 3 ways of sharpening Cold Steel's serrations. the first is to simply steel the back edge (the side without the serrations ground in) to realign the tips of the teeth. Yes, this does help. Secondly, I have heard of guys using a buffing wheel with green compound. The third way may be the most appealing. Lansky makes a sharpener specifically for Cold Steel serrations now! Click here to see the item at www.knifecenter.com. For $8 if it works you have a great deal there.

The triangle edges on the sharpmaker don't do the best job of fitting inside the smaller teeth.

Thanks guys, I knew you could help me out. It's a shame they don't make more "servicable" serrations! You listening Cold Steel?

I don't know a thing about Cold Steel serrations but in general serrations cannot be sharpened by hand. I used to own a Gerber Gator and the serrations were scalloped; the bevel could not be matched by hand. See what I mean? That is why I favor a plain edge.

Here's a picture of the aforementioned CS-specific sharpener:
