How do you sharpen this object?

I want to sharpen this if possible but how? It's curves and it spirals. The red part can pop off the post by removing a screw. Any suggestions? See pictures please.

if you can cut the blade with a file you can draw file it which would be a lot easier. you could also use a piece of sandpaper on a stick and draw it across the blade the same way. you could follow the curve a lot better using that method. just remove the blade from the rest of the auger and clamp the blade in a vise.

I sharpen drills with the standard DMT Diasharps. A flat 8x3 benchstone would work great.

Anyone want to elaborate on how to sharpen drill bits? Or how to draw file.

when you draw file, you hold the file at both ends and go in line back and forth with the edge instead of across it ( you are forming a + more or less with the file being 1 line and the edge being the other). make sure to watch your hand closest to the edge so you dont cut yourself.

said i would try the file, and its a little safer and easier to not really screw up as a grinder, etc.

File. Auger blades are soft and should file easily.

I was just trying to show what part to sharpen. Start with a coarse file.

+4 for the file. I use that for my lawnmower blade and it works just fine. It takes a bit longer and is a bit more elbow grease, but it works well.
