How do you sharpen your kukris?

I recently picked up a carbon v gurkha kukri (From a member here no less). Anyways it has a very thick edge and while use able it could definitely be made sharper. What tools and or techniques do you use to sharpen your kukris? Thanks.

I have a 1x30 belt sander, and a narrower strop.

But it is a lightning quick way to ruin a knife too!
