How do you ship the new boxes?

I'm sure this has been discussed before and I apologize if I missed it.

So the new boxes don't fit in small flat rate shipping boxes. I was curious what alternatives everyone uses to ship now? I don't want to use medium flat rate as the price is almost $13 now without insurance.

Thanks!

I bite the bullet and ship the whole box. Insurance and all. What's 20 bucks to make sure my CRK is taken care of from Texas to Idaho

Early boxes didn't fit small flat rate either. I am not sure exactly what the new box dimensions are, but USPS does have some non flat rate boxes that might fit and cost less then moving to a medium flat rate. I keep a collection of boxes for odd size needs and build(cut down or combine) my own when needed.
Some of the CRK boxes could be disassembled for shipping-again, not sure if the newest can-I may or may not have that one.

Cant remeber exactly what brand the box was but knifea** uses a box that fits it perfectly. Its somewhere around 7x7x4 or 7x7x3.5 but with the box taped up and labeled the finished weight is 15 ounces. So it ends up being the same cost as a small flat rate.

I think u can get the box for around a dollhair.

Its really simple. Im good at making stuff so just use a larger box and cut it down to size and ship priority based on its size and weight. Besides i like making my own things. Mind you the box looks good and i also do add padding as well.

I was sent a frame for my other business in one of these, and have used them for the new CRK boxes ever since (click on link):

Priority Mail Box 1096L

It's 9.25 x 6.125 x 2 and works PERFECTLY.

I have also printed out the label like it was a small flat rate box and have never had any issues.

I print labels online through the USPS web site. On the site, there is an option to choose your own box, and they list several different sizes that are different than the standard Priority Box sizes. For me, it's less than 2.00 more over a small priority box.
That's how I ship the CRK's that don't fit the small boxes. Besides, it's nice to go to the P.O. to drop off a package as opposed to filling everything out there.

If you use the knife you are shipping, don't forget to put the knife in the box before you tape it up... ;) :D

USPS also has a box 7x7x6 and a CRK box fits in it just fine. A bit too large to fit in a mail box though so delivery usually winds up on the front steps.

I use my own boxes. Just find something in my stash of boxes in the garage. I save boxes that look like could be re-used. My wife calls it my "shipping department".

I also print my own labels USPS from home. I just weight it on the kitchen scale and enter the dimensions. Can still ship Priority and insure your own boxes. It generally runs about the same for me as a small flat rate box so long as the box isn't insanely big.
