How do you store and display your knives?

Hi all,
I am starting out in knife collecting. I wonder how you all store your knives? Do you have a display? Do you use a roll up carrier? Any advice would be appreciated. I would want something that would allow easy access so I can pick out my carry pieces for the day.

Thanks,

Bill

When I first started getting a few, I bought one of the rolls.
Seemed like kind of a pain in the butt. Bought one that looks like a briefcase.
Much easier, unzip and fold her open.. Those chests are nice idea.

I haven't bothered with displayin many yet, I'd rather put em in pocket :D
Although for the guys that have hundreds of knives, it would be nice to have a really nice display. Maybe I better go count, might be time to start buildin..

Yeah. Display porably won't happen while I am living with my wife. I can have them, just not on display. Then she might notice new ones. LOL. And with kids in the house it is not a great idea. I like the looks of the chest. But I can not afford that. Any other thoughts?

Thanks,

Bill

Did you look at the Craftsman chests that I recommended in that other similar topic?

I'd be concerned about security though. Here's what I've purchased recently:

They come in different sizes, different layouts, different colors, and different grades. The drawers are easily lined with material or padded cabinet liners. Open the drawers to see the knives laid out, close the drawers and keep them out of sight and locked away.

A fraction of the Gerstner chest prices.

...the tool chests as a compromise in aesthetics, ability to organize, cost, security, immobility, concealment, expandability, display-ibility, space, and weight.

I have the 3 piece Gerstner International set. The drawers are felt lined, it is a nice set, definitely keeps the moisture out.

a bread box i picked up at good will for $3 stripped and stained
a felt lined box inside the bread box and various make shift knife rolls, and the celluloid handled knives sitting pretty away from the others in the open air:)
all this sits atop a bookcase the second shelf of said case has all my sheath knives and the 3rd shelf holds the sheaths
yeah it's complicated:D not much to look at but its mine
cheers
ivan
P.S.: said arrangement sits in my basement/art studio or as i like to call it "the fortress of solitude":D displayed only for me and my cats

I display all my knives. Here's a couple examples.

Here's a few Bowie's displayed (Dean, Dunn, Fisk) with stands covered by acrylic security cubes which also offer ultra-violet ray filter.

Thanks for the ideas folks. I think I found something I like and would work. Since some mentioned tool chest, I started looking around. And I found these 2.

I will have to see if my local place has them. If not I will order one.

Those are very small. Just depends on how many knives you need to store though.

Sam's Club had some wooden ones too, in case you don't find them at your local Harbor Freight.
