Looking for ideas as right now I just keep it in old boxes on a shelf and it's cumbersome to sort through sometimes.

Hey David. I'm an old woodworker so I've dealt with scraps for a long time. I'm hoping to use up some of the stuff that has accumulated over the years as I make knives!

I use a set of cheap wire mesh drawer/bins to sort the scraps by species. I end up with a lot of pine and oak so there's a couple different bins for each that are for different thicknesses. There's also the "junk drawer" that's for all the stuff I don't use all that often!

The drawers aren't anything special, you can find them anywhere. I like to use the wire mesh ones because air can move through the scraps, hopefully keeping them good and dry. For bigger pieces I have a large set of shelves in one corner where I stack the wood with spacers, again to allow air movement.

Thanks. Any chance of a pic to help me visualize it?

Yeah that's pretty much what each of my boxes is...

I use a few deep drawers in a 3-bay rollaway toolbox. Not inexpensive, but I had it & it works well. I’m interested to see what others use, too.

I use the colored flat storage bins that I get at Costco. They stack and I can label the top and front with the contents. The photo isn't the exact ones from Costco, but similar. They are available from most everywhere. IIRC, they come in a 5-pak.
