How do you store or display your knives.

Hi folks,

I am relatively new here so if this is not the appropriate forum to ask this question or if there is a thread already about it please let me know.

I note that some of you have more than one knife :) Some MANY more. I see that my collection is growing but, not wanting to just throw my knives into a pile in a shoebox (even the less used ones) I am wondering what solutions you have come up with as to how to best keep them so you can see them, get to them when you need them and not damage them

Oh yeah. I should note that I do not have any knives of any real collection value. All are users.

Thanks for your time, trouble and advice.

Dave

I use a large peg board which works very well for me. I have about thirty bayonets and fighting knives in my collection which I hang on the peg board, tips down, on those chrome tool hangers. The chrome hangers do not scratch the knives and the knives are readily accessible.

Most of my folders, the nicer ones at least, fit into Craftsman stackable tool chests. Seems like an easy, fast, secure, and cheap solution. Flexible and expandable too. Specifically, these intermediate chests stack nicely. http://www.craftsman.com/shc/s/p_10...&cName=Tool+Storage&sName=Intermediate+Chests
A one-drawer or two-drawer model bolted the floor would be great for an assortment of EDCs.

I also have one of these, nothing currently displayed in the door window, but there's a lot of storage in the cabinet.

I found a metal bar at work and attached it to a piece of 1x2 using washers as spacers. My total cost was about $5 and I attached it to a shelf that I was keeping them on before. Right now I have 12 folders on it and 2 fixed blades on the ends. Eventually I'll make another one thats a double decker and figure out a good way to mount it on the wall. Cheap, easy, and accessible, but it offers no security if thats something your worried about.

So far I've been using a dresser drawer. But I have to find a new solution, or free up another drawer.

I have decided to get a couple of stackable 3 drawer sets from Target and uses those for storage. For the time being they will serve my needs well.

One day I might do something like rmc85 tho. Sure like the idea of having my knives out so I can see them. But yeah, then security might become a problem.

Thanks again.

The target drawers are a great idea, it's what i use. It is a plastic 5 drawer tower, the top 3 are medium sized and the bottom 2 are large. My folders are on top, then my fixed blades, than my junk drawer, and last is my book drawer. It works very well for me, but yeah there is no security there but I am not too concerned about that. Here is a pic of my folder collection: http://s459.photobucket.com/albums/qq318/chainedpatriot/?action=view&current=IMG_8897.jpg
I put a cheap traction mat for cushioning on the bottom it also stops the knives from moving

From time to time I re-arrange this display. Currently it looks like this:

That is classy! I have my favorites sort of piled up in a small wooden box lined with some cloth on my desk, and my other ones on a shelf out of the way. I have been wondering how the dedicated do it though, since I'll have to update before too long. Cheers

I wipe the blades down with a bit of mineral oil, then toss them into an old hat. Probably not the best method of storage, and most likely not what you were expecting in an answer. But hey, at least each time I feel like carrying a different knife, I just reach in and pull from the hat.

A portion of mine were displayed like this, for a short time in a local museum.

A nice size case that would neat to have, but my house isn't as secure as the museum.

Wow, that's an amazing collection of Old Timers there. How long have you been working on that?
