So I wanted to quickly share with everyone the ways in which I store my folding knife collection, and how it has evolved. I've tried a few interesting options and figured these may work for some of you. Also, I'd like to know how you guys prefer to organize and store your collection.
I'd like to preface this with saying my collections consists only of folders and "edc" kind of blades. I carry and use every one of my knives, so my focus was keeping them safe and organized while still being accessible, as I usually like to pick a new knife to carry every day or every few days, and of course have them at hand when hanging out at my desk, usually on BF haha.
First I went expensive and bought a few Pelican cases, and then one big case. I knew they were the best from having them for other items, and they are built like tanks. I came to find out the cases were too bulky for my liking and were overkill, plus it was a pain to set them somewhere on a shelf and have to retrieve them every time to take out a knife. Total storage space was always limited.
I came to find a few of this size cheapo plastic with foam case meant for handguns was a great way to store alot of my overflow and lesser expensive blades. They a great option for someone on a budget. Of course, still not what I was looking for.

I then bought one of these cabinets that 5 low height drawers. It fits perfectly under my desk, and keeps my knives at hand. I began to utilize the top drawer as a kind of EDC item drawer with some flashlights, sunglasses, misc keychain stuff, watches etc. I then used the next three drawers for knives, and the bottom drawer for sharpening gear and other accessories like tools and loctite and parts. I put toolbox style drawer liners in all the drawers. I still use it to store the bulk of my collection, but of course I keep buying so it got a little cramped.

I bought the popular large Spyderco bag. This was cool for awhile, I hung it on the back of a door and it kept my favorite knives at hand and protected. It eventually got too heavy to hang and the plastic rod inside one of the bag ends broke, so it wont hang anymore. I'm sure I could easily fix it, but then I found this...

It sits on top of a shelf near my desk and works perfectly to keep my 18 favorite blades at hand. It will hold a pretty decent size folder in each section (endura fits with room to spare). It is not rugged by any means, but it's not meant for that. I can close it if for some reason I want them covered, and with a little creative help it will stand up like in the picture on amazon, when the back is folded its not rigid enough when filled with knives, but I sat it on something to brace it. This case combined with the under desk 5 drawer cabinet is working out perfectly for me.
Sorry for the terrible picture, but it looks much better in person. You could probably even hang it on a wall, but it would work nicely standing on your dresser as well.
Tell me about how you store your collections!
