How do you store...

your knives that are to be used? Do you keep them all in a drawer and take what you need or do you have them displayed visually?

Terry I have a 18 x 12 x 3 inch box that has a lexan cover. It's lined with 3/4 inch tight foam styrofoam that's covered in denim. I wipe down my EDC knives with "Break Free" gun wipes. It's a lubicant preservative that works great. After I wipe 'em down I open 'em up and put them in the case. I store the sheaths in another container til I pick out a knife to use. They are not "on display" I guess...The case is in my desk, a big ol' roll-top.

EDC's chaos reigns! They are everywhere.

My "collector" 110's are stored in my gun vault in drawers, and each knife is inside a 100% white cotton baby sock that fits a closed 110 perfect.

Baby socks... Cool idea..

Users are helter skelter.

Collectables: knives and sheaths are wrapped in cloth separately and placed in the original box.
Original box is wrapped in bubble wrap or that other type lightweight foam packing material.. None are stored in the sheaths. Safe has large and small bundles of dessicant.

You guys act as if these things are going to somehow lose value if they contact the air! I certainly put mine in a safe place, but I like to take them out and look at them. This summer I plan to build a display case!

It's not that, it's to prevent them banging into each other when teh drawer is opend and closed. And this is only for the most expensive vintage and customs.

Display set to look at and keep track of missing/wanted models in three upright counter top Buck displays with modified plexiglass shelves. Not visible from outside window. Any extra MIB's in clear fishing tackle boxes, size 370. Extras, should-not-have-boughts and odds and end in two wooden cigar boxes. Trays and boxes in gun safe. All 'goodins' with digital photo record for insurance. Only good friends know the size of collection. Everyone else just thinks I have a shoebox with some pocketknives inside. Never get them all out in front of wife.

Agreed TLC,,,, less marks on them and the boxes the better. Yeah, I wrap the boxes also to try and slow down shelf wear. The dessicant is also for all the guns in the safe. When and if I ever decide to let go of one of these 2005 NRA 1 of 100 119's, I think the buyer will appreciate that black box being nice and clean.

Good idea on the digital record. I need to procrastinate about getting started on that.

One difference tho, is training the wife to wipe off the finger prints and proper re-wrapping after she has been in the safe pawing over them. Her and that Blade guide to values is driving me nuts :D :D
A good problem to have  I think I'll keep her.

I bought my wife a Buck 373 with mother of pearl scales for her purse. She is now a happy camper and leaves me alone while I'm buying more knives. :D  :D
