How do you tell when a Buck was made?

depending on when it was made there should be a mark next to the model number. It can vary from ] to other symbols. There is a list on bucks website somewhere of what symbol is what year.

Brasso,
Check out the thread where I offered a listing of 110 types. It is also date sensitive. Year symbols only cover the year the blade was made from 1986 forward. You will need this list or a similar one to get a handle on previous types. By the way, most of the pre-1986 types are assigned to a range of years, not a specific one.
Hope this is helpful.

Hmmm, no such markings on my knife. It just says Buck, 110, usa. There is a small dot on either side of the "110", like a period except centered vertically. It also has a silver backspring pin. Any ideas?

Brasso,
Your knife, assuming it has the original blade, was made between 1978 and 1980 (approx.). The knife will have either 3 medium size, 4 medium size or 3 large handle pins in addition to the rocker pin.
Again, if you request my info packet, you will have a great deal of knowledge to reference. I have sent some out already to forumites who requested the info.
