I need help on how to turn a standard sheath into a baldric carry rig using paracord(550 cord).
pictures would help, thanks. my newest kuk, my balance knife is too heavy(35 oz) for my belt rig once i add a 2qt canteen to the system, so the kuk is gonna be carried baldric style or if you know a way to attach it to a MOLLE/PALS system i have that on my pack( 50 L size)(3038 cu in.)

Heck just .ave a baldric. Or get a shoulder strap from a briefcase/computer case and we'd it to a piece of leather holding the HI scabbard.

One way you could do it would be just passing the 550 cord through the frog/belt loop once or twice and adjust it to your lenght, or you could make up something like this, you would not need the extra strap and snaps. I made it up for a big blade to carry baldric style. You just slide it in the belt loop and done deal.

Howard Wallace made a similar "adapter" using a carabiner and a pair of split rings.

Shoulder carry
Put two split rings of the sort that are used to carry keys onto a caribiner. Close the gate and insert the closed caribiner into the belt loop of the frog on the khukuri sheath. Move the split rings so one shows on either side of the frog. Then clip a shoulder strap onto the rings. The strap can now go over your head and shoulder and the knife can ride by your waist or hip. --Howard Wallace

Finding a good frog you can trust to carry you Khuk is not easy!

Ok ndog how long have you been waiting for a chance to use that one?! :highly_amused:

could do a braid weave like the south east asian baldrics, just wrapped cotton chord--and yes frog wins internet

He he! Wasnt that long ago. Thats my Baby CAK from a short while back. It even has a zipper on the belly so you can stash some tinder, and such inside.

I definately agree with Gehazi and JW. Braid the 550 into a strap don't just use lengths of the cord. It is VERY uncomfortable after a while riding on your shoulder that way. Then braid a clip into each end of the strap and create a frog such as Howard describes with the carabiner and rings and bingo... A super nifty nice looking and COMFORTABLE carry for any Khuk with a frog on it's sheath.

here's one i made earlier for my HI kobra. no amphibians were harmed in the production of this item.

pugs75's baldric adapter is another good choice for adapting the std. HI superfrog.

howto use it: Linky

a quick draw sheath with baldric rings is also a good idea. the cantina has a number of really neat variations you can search for.

there are various d-ring & snap/mash hook adapters for molle packs you could use to clip to the scabbard. or tie it to it with paracord at the top, with another bit tied over the lower part of the scabbard lower down to keep it from flopping. i've seen a paracord 'net' made to zigzag down the side & back up again like a boot lace to slip a scabbard into (then tied thru the frog at the top. be creative.

p.s. - if you carry it in your teeth like the poor toad up there, make sure the sharp edge faces forward, rather than towards your soft delicate mouth parts. i recommend that for toads and frogs too. of course, should you wish to increase the width of your smile...

p.p.s. - you can make a paracord baldric if you get creative with your knotwork to make a wider section to distribute the load on your shoulder, here's some someone made earlier:

I ran a 550 concealment shoulder rig with stripped 550 for a while, but that was an old villager sirupati that weightd maybe 13 ounces in the sheath. Braiding is good, and gives you a ton of dormant 550 cord as well.
I knew a SAW gunner who broke his sling and decided to use 550, and all we had was one 3 foot piece. That was not pretty. Funny, but not pretty.

Your welcome, It is my favorite pattern. I find it a nice simple but clean look and fairly easy to do AND undo. And it gives you a really nice length of cord when undone. Could even make it wider if you want with the exact same pattern, just add more wraps before you start weaving.
Time to get busy knotting and don't forget pictures if you make one :)
